Newspapers - FOX 61/WCCT/Hartford Courant should be under separate ownership

2 Newspapers - The Meriden Record-Journal and The Norwich Bulliten want Tribune broken up and say that FOX 61, WCCT-TV, and The Hartford Courant should be under separate ownership. Tribune counters that WCCT-TV is a failed or failing TV station and could only get a depressed sale price for the station so it should stay under their ownership.

I read this article in both The New Britain Herald and Bristol Press, but can not find it online so you can read the rest of it.

Tribune can shove it! How have they gotten away with this monopoly for so damn long? Take away Rich Cappola and the lottery drawings and I wouldn't even sample their "newscast" anymore.

To be honest I don't think newspapers should be under any sort of direction from the FCC and the fact that they own both a newspaper and a TV station shouldn't be considered.

However I do think that Tribune should not own two television stations in this market.

20 should still be WTXX. That channel is just a mess awful logo and everything.

TXX = Television + Twenty (Roman numeral XX). Doesn't get any simpler than that.

WCCT = We're Crappy Connecticut Television! :D

They picked up The Simpsons and Family Guy from FOX 61, so it's not that bad. And while not my cup of tea they also have Steve, Jerry, and Maury which all used to be on FOX 61 which a lot of people do like. What I don't like is they gave Divorce Court, Judge Alex, and South Park to MY TV 59.

I could see why you would think that, Ken, considering Jeff Foxworthy is the host. Then again, consider that CMT is the secondary network of NBC's "Singing Bee" - which is a complete knockoff of Fox's "Don't Forget The Lyrics." (I realize the concepts may be slightly different, but just remember which show came first...)

FOX doesn't even do that show anymore. And Singing Bee on NBC I don't even remember but I looked it up and it went to a NBC website but the show isn't listed under shows on NBC.
