NewsRadio on the FM Dial.

With cities like New York, Chicago, Washington, DC & New Orleans, are there any chances the city of Houston will ever get KTRH-on the FM Dial-with a FULL-POWERED frequency? My money would go to either 93.7 or 101.1. WCBS-AM is now heard @101.1 in NYC; WWL @105.3; and WTOP @ 103.5. This is just what I needed so I can hear the Astros in pure-FM sound.

Well, KTRH is on 101.1;HD2
You're WRONG! KLOL is broadcasting "La Preciosa"(Spanish Oldies) on its second HD channel. Now where can we get those special radios to pick up those so-called high-def stations? Best Buy? Circuit City? Radio Shack?

I'd take an All-News station on AM, which we don't currently have. But I doubt it would work in Houston--an expensive format to do correctly, probably only viable in the top five markets. Think WCBS, WINS, KNX, KFWB, WBBM, KYW, KCBS.

Thirty years later I still miss NBC's News and Information Service, which was way ahead of its time.

No sir, you are wrong. KLOL's HD2 is infact KTRH. As far as where you can buy them... Tweeters & Radio Shack. When I took a listen to 101.1-2, it was infact KTRH.

Go to Tweeter on Westheimer. And while you're there say hi to Mike Marshall. He's a salesman and one of the great pros (KPRC, KQUE) who can't make a living in radio anymore.

That's where I went. They had a display right in the front of store, and didn't attempt to bother me while I played, like Best Buy usually does.

Big correction here!!! WCBS-AM is not, I repeat NOT heard on 101.1 FM in New York, which is Jack-FM. It's a good idea to check before typing.

If NBC NIS was ahead of its time...

And starting a news radio station in 2006 is a concept behind its time...

Just when was the "right time" for all news?

Yes.

And where on earth did you ever get the idea that WCBS put News on 101.1? Even their HD-2 channel isn't (it's Oldies).

It helps to rant with correct info. Especially is you're going to correct others.

Troy,

In answer to your original question..........."are there any chances the city of Houston will ever get KTRH-on the FM Dial-with a FULL-POWERED frequency?"

Uh................no.

Thanks for asking.
