"Newsroom culture clash" at CBS News

What I like about this take is the point made near the end that David Ellison's company, with Trump's backing, is still trying to get CNN. That puts what happened at 60 Minutes in an even larger context.

Yes, they're all dead or dying dinosaurs that are being pushed to their graves quicker by ideologues who don't realize what they're doing.

The larger context is that people aren't watching linear broadcast TV anymore. Just as they don't listen to linear real time radio.

The government is exerting its control over something that matters less and less. What they're doing isn't helping.

No they don't. They all agree with him. Once again, read the story about him and CNN. The administration WANTS him on TV.

I'm gonna do what I used to do when I edited any of my reporters' copy and they wrote that a politician or agency "wanted" something.

The administration says it WANTS him on TV.

That's factual. That's fair. The administration could be telling the truth about that.

Or not.

Which is why, the minute I was given the opportunity, I sold ALL my shares of Paramount. I'm about to do the same with WBD.
Which is why I haven’t directly bought a share of any media company in the last 20 years, and long ago sold what little I had in such companies. It’s possible that I indirectly own such shares through index funds, but there wouldn’t be a material impact thanks to diversification.

Clearly not in this case. The results have been darned close to immediate.

I meant the audience numbers which is what I believe Big A was referring to. But yes, the programming direction as a result of the regime change has been immediate.

That doesn't mean most viewers will change their routines as quickly though. Old habits are hard to break, especially for the brand loyalists, some of whom may be in denial over what's happening with the content since they still see the familiar brand, shows and faces for now.

It looks like Global in Canada had the segment available until late today. So the original piece is making its way around the internet anyway.
Which give us a point of reference---if a Bari Weiss-approved segment ever does air on CBS, we can see not just what was added, but what got cut out.

The main clip circulating so far is a cell phone recording, but hopefully a full quality version will ensue. YouTube keeps taking down the links but it's on iCloud, Mega, torrents, and it has already been archived. The clip is sure to get a much bigger audience now than it would have on CBS if Weiss hadn't killed it.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren posted the following to her social media. Here's a transcription instead of the screencap to facilitate reading by visually impaired members:

@ewarren

Remember: Paramount wanted a merger. Trump wanted Colbert fired. Paramount's CBS canceled Colbert. Merger approved.

Now Trump wants to muzzle 60 Minutes. CBS just pulled a story critical of him.

Is this corporate censorship greasing the wheels for Paramount to buy Warner Bros?
