"Newsroom culture clash" at CBS News

Only if you don't click on the links. If you do, Drew's backgrounder on Bari is quite well sourced:

More on the fake Twitter account:

I fail to see how this lady is a good thing. Although I've watched the last few weeks and not been repelled, learning about her makes me want to watch NBC or ABC instead.

One would think CBS News President Tom Cibrowski would have the final say how things go at CBS News. This is given Tom Cibroski’s experience in management such as Producer at ABC News and President/GM of KGO-TV San Francisco prior to joining CBS News. One would think he has the final say on everything. But then again Bari Weiss and David Ellison has the power overturn anything Cibrowski has in mind here.

Wish they'd actively try more to do damage control. Everybody now thinks of CBS News the same as Fox.

True but in this case its the power structure at Paramount under the Ellisons leadership.
I am surprised Tom Cibrowski never spoke up on how to address on how he would stop stories from being spiked because of political interference and let it flow the right way given that he's the President of CBS News. Or in this case we have to deal with Chief editor Bari Weiss bypassing CBS News Cibrowski and report directly to David Ellison as we seen here.

To be sure, there have been signs that some people are ready to hold hands. They have to. Like its rivals, CBS News operates in an era when traditional TV viewers are getting their news in many ways, crimping regular cash flows. Weiss has been willing to take counsel from Tom Cibrowski, the TV veteran who joined CBS News as president last year. But he’s in no position to challenge Weiss in public, some of these people say, because she reports directly to Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison. Cibrowski reports to George Cheeks, who oversees TV operations. And that tips more control to Weiss.

Right now its reputation is on fire (in a negative way.) So far a lot of people compare it to Elon's takeover of X, but that you can clearly see the negative consequences more than this.

No, we don't. None of the "Big 3" OTA networks is at all similar to Fox News ("Fox" without "News" attached is another OTA network, but without the news coverage of the other 3)

Here is the other one about Bari Weiss podcast having to be on hold due to her role at CBS News.
Hmmm....maybe she is a Radiodiscussions lurker reading this very thread. ;)

Agreed it’s like when Linda Yaccarino was CEO of X whatever she suggested or implemented got overturned by Elon Musk himself. Linda Yaccarino at X was only a CEO in name only given her position at that time. It’s the same reason the current president of CBS News is in the position he is in and it’s he’s the division President in name only and his name has been not included all this time in this thread. In Tom Cibrowski case whatever he suggested to improve CBS News gets overturned or bypassed by David Ellison and Bari Weiss to meet their standards on how the news division operates.

Here's more when Bari Weiss hires somebody to CBS News without consulting with CBS News President Tom Cibrowski and Paramount TV Chief George Cheeks prior to a candidate getting accepted to that position then we know who is really more powerful at CBS News. It partially explains why we have not heard George Cheeks and Tom Cibrowski speak up or do anything to stop the drama at CBS News or if they did it got overturned by David Ellison and Bari Weiss.
