NewsTalk 98-7 is making a switch

Cumulus’s WOKI has been running this promo all day. Any ideas or insider info?
It could be anything, but of course my mind rushes to frequency change, maybe exiling the News-Talk back to AM and opening up 98.7 for Nash Icon, or something else. Only problem is, I don’t know if sports can be a standalone on the Friendsville-licensed 99.1. Another slight possibility, giving 98.7 to WNML and having WOKI on the 990/99.1 combo.
Of course this could be a programming change, or, if corporate has loosened its grip, maybe Fox News coming to the frequency instead of generic CNN.

Other ideas?

I heard this promo as well & had some of the same thoughts. The return of FoX News I think could be a possibility as they are playing up the word "news" in the teases. Another thing, I know I read awhile back about some frequency moves in the market. 98.7 was supposed to trade frequencies with 98.3 in Sweetwater as part of the move & in turn be able to move up to a class C2 50kw signal. This was all a proposal, but I've never heard any news on it. Wonder if it went through & that could be part of it?

I'm pretty sure the 98.3 proposal was cancelled. It would have had several stations changing frequencies.
Whatever it is, it will be revealed December 10 at 8:20am

Not really psyched on the swapping of Hal & Phil's shows as the big announcement. I like Hal, but have zero interest in Phil's morning zoo type stuff. I'll probably be listening to NPR now in mornings, or XM on my drive in. I can't fathom that Phil is more valuable ratingwise than Hal.

Perhaps they are doing this with the thought of preparing HHH for syndication as an afternoon show. This was attempted before back in the mid '00s when Hal was aired in Nashville on WGFX. The experiment ended when they switched to all-sports, but from what I understand, the show did well. Like him or not, he does have talent and the show could work well in syndication.

Could be, that's something I haven't thought of. It could be that Hal just wanted off mornings; 22 years is a long time to be up at 3am. He did mention he'd have more time for public speaking and corporate training events. The switch won't change my habits with them; it's a 40 minute drive to and from work and I'll still listen. It'll be Hallerin being inspirational vs. Savage yelling at me. 2 other changes supposedly in the offing.
