Nexstar drops "Live Well" on their stations

Well they only had it on 2 stations but still ;)

Nexstar dropped Live Well on ABC24 in Memphis (WPTY) and Fox 16 in Jackson (WJKT).
Right now it shows a black screen and the channel number but per the engineer at WPTY (courtesy of a contact who called them) they dropped it on both and are looking for "replacement programming"

smart move Nexstar. Now I wish other stations would drop it for better programming :)

They aren't looking for "replacement programming". Nexstar just never does subchannels period unless every other station has rejected a netlet, which is why they pretty much clamored to dump WFFF's CW subchannel in Burlington to give it to WPTZ the moment they got control (the rest of the schedule is only on WFFF-DT2 to fulfill the contracts to September).

I swear, Perry Sook thinks that it's still 1996 and this whole "World Wide Web" and "Me-TV" thing is just a fad judging from Nexstar's terrible station websites and hate of actual interesting programming concepts. They bought Inergize with the Newport acquisition and those sites are still up, but I'm pretty much content to think they're only using that to create more garbage for their .biz tie-in sites. ;D

I hope this will be the opening for Me-TV to move to WJKT. WBBJ in Jackson is still sitting on their backsides and is still only running Me-TV as filler for their CBS subchannel. WBBJ deserves to lose Me-TV to WJKT.

Even if WJKT picks up CW and carries Me-TV during the rest of the day that would still be beter than the sorry treatment WBBJ is giving Me-TV now.

Nexstar did pick up Bounce TV as a subchannel for a number of their stations when the network launched.

I remember seeing an ad from Me-TV a couple months ago on TVNewsCheck congratulating Nexstar on their Salt Lake City affiliate beating out other stations, including their sister CW affiliate. I think they will keep Me-TV in markets where it's doing well. LWN is just filler programming, and I expect other groups to follow suit (are you listening, Scripps?).

Also, as mentioned, Nexstar is not afraid of subchannels, because of their pact with Bounce TV. However, I expect them to drop The Country Network from the former Newport stations they now own.

WSYR in Syracuse, has added ME-TV since Nexstar took them over.

add MundoFox ,Me-TV and Bounce sounds better than the LiveWell Network. I wish WLNE 6-1 replaced LWN for either MundoFox or Bounce or Antenna TV.

right now there is a cable only CW in Jackson....wonder if they could put it OTA?

But I agree. Me, This or Antenna TV most of the time. CW or My as the 2 hour block they have.

I hope it will be Me-TV. This and Bounce are already on Charter Cable from WMC in Memphis and Antenna is on Charter from WREG, so there is no problem getting them.

I really wouldn't want CW or MNTV in prime time, since Me-TV's prime time lineup is what I'd want to see the most. But WLMT CW 30 in Memphis, another sister station of WPTY and WJKT, carries Me-TV on 30.2 except for the 2 hours of MNTV Monday through Friday. So it could be an indicator of what Nexstar might do with WKJT on 16.2, which like I said earlier would still be better than the sorry treatment WBBJ is giving Me-TV.

One option I hope DOESN'T happen is NBC. That would leave a situation no better than CBS on WBBJ now, unless WJKT adds another subchannel for Me-TV. But that would still be further down the line if it ever happened.

always interesting when people put their views on wiki. On the LiveWell wiki page

The network lost affiliates in Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee in March 2013 as a result of the sale of Newport Television's stations to Nexstar Broadcasting; Nexstar generally does not carry subchannel networks in any form.

hmmm...I see subchannels on some of Nexstar stations

I dont see that happening. I'm sure Raycom would have something to say about that.
Speaking of which, I dont get why Raycom doesnt buy the low powered station in Jackson that Blue Moon owns (and was going to put NBC there until they gave up) and just make it a translator of WMC....unless it can be easily picked up in Jackson right now?

WLMT 30.2 is proof that Nexstar will carry subchannels. I doubt seriously if they would drop Me-TV from it. I think that if there weren't plans to put something back on 16.2 Nexstar would have just turned it off rather than having a blank screen with their call letters and channel in the lower right corner.

I hope you're right about that. Unless you have a really good outdoor antenna WMC has a very poor OTA signal in Jackson since they're on RF 5 and their tower is closer to downtown Memphis rather than East Memphis or Bartlett like most other Memphis TV stations, which would be better for Jackson. They've applied to change to a higher channel, but I agree it would make sense for Raycom to buy the Blue Moon station and use it for a translator.

thanks for the info on WMC. Didnt know they werent in the same "antenna farm" as the others.
And why stations went back to low VHF I never understood...because of the interference

I would take MeTV,antenna tv,this or any retro channel. anything but livewell. if they were not looking for a replacement 16.2 would be completely gone IMO.

WJKT still has channel space on Charter where Live Well was, on channel 176. It's a black screen with WJKT-TV 16.2 Jackson, TN in the lower right corner. Being that that is, I'm also of the opinion that Nexstar will have a replacement, otherwise Charter would've took it completely off.

my contact in the Jackson area said they might be testing something. He has seen short clips of programing then black space at times today.

It sounds like something is coming soon. But would they be able to get Me-TV this soon? I figure WBBJ won't give it up immediately, even if Me-TV says they want out. Could this mean something else will be done with 16.2?

When Mission (aka's Nexstar's holding company) bought KLRT (FOX), and KASN (CW) in the Little Rock market from Newport, both THIS and The Country Network were dropped from both stations. Meanwhile Nexstar which controls FOUR primary stations in the Little Rock AR market continue with Bounce on indie KARZ. Mission's station in Southeast AR/NE Louisiana KTVE (NBC primary) carries sister station KARD (FOX) Monroe LA as a subchannel since there is considerable distance between the two transmitters.

some updated info from the manager at ABC24/CW30/FOX 16

The manager said there will be content added very soon. I told him what I saw yesterday and he said they have tested a few signals but would not say which. He said live well was dropped due to lower viewership and content complaints

again take it for what its worth

Does that mean I can e-mail my local station whom carries LWN and let them know that I find the content offensive? ;D

I think I have an idea to what show generated the "content complaints" given the demographic of the market.
