Nexstar/Mission buy out ComCorp and White Knight

$270 million for 19 stations, 11 to be assigned to Nexstar, 8 to Mission pending FCC approval

This deal will give the group a faux-duopoly in Odessa/Midland (KMID/KPEJ), a faux-triopoly in Shreveport (KTAL/KMSS/KSHV) and a dangerous situation in Evansville where they would control three of the four commercial stations in the market (WEVV added to WEHT/WTVW) and five of the six networks (CBS-Fox-My added to ABC-CW). In other words, they'd be in the same spot in Evansville which they derided Granite for being in in Fort Wayne during WFFT's failed experiment as an independent.

Who sees the Shreveport and Evansville arrangements truly passing muster in this case?

I've got to think that the Nexstar purchase of WEVV will require some kind of modification. Whether that is WEVV spinning off its FOX/MyNet subchannel and W47EE translator to Raycom's WFIE, or the sale of WEVV being stopped completely, I don't know.

I wouldn't be surprised if neither one of them got Local.

I was wondering about the Evansville situation, too. Of course, with WTVW struggling, they might do something like move CBS there and spin WEVV.
