Nexstar pulls back on DEI initiatives amid FCC lobbying

We seen the FCC go after other companies like Comcast and their NBC affiliates over DEI before. This time Nexstar is removing DEI all to please the FCC Commissioner Carr and to a certain extent the Trump Administration. Yes this now includes a lawsuit against Nexstar over DEI. Expect Nexstar owned stations like KRON, KTLA to have their license questioned over this.

This entire thing bothers me. You have employers who institute a program to recruit and support people who may have been more excluded from their field or company culture.

Then the side that tells us all the time that businesses have freedom of association and belief (cake makers, florists, etc.) and even have a right to political influence as "speech" gets angry because of how these businesses choose to conduct their free-market business.

The side that told us others (broadcasters, big tech) want to "censor" things and that their political opponents use government to oppress those they disagree with get power, and they use that power to pressure people they don't agree with to change their corporate culture to something they agree with.

As for this guy, he's assuming he would have gotten a promotion. Maybe he wouldn't. The company downsized. It's very hard to mind-read. The people cheering him on generally accuse their opponents of seeing "racism around every corner." Maybe he's doing the same thing.
