Next Format Change In S.F.

What Do You Think The Next Format Change will Be in San Francisco?

Any guesses?

some station will. maybe 94.9, who knows?

a all 90s format like 106.5 the buzz in sacramento has would be cool. or maybe somebody will flip to dance to attract former Energy listners.

KNGY...Uh...Ooops
KKSF.... scratch that
KFRC .... Nope already has.
I guess you can call KOIT all Christmas music a change since iti si not their regular programming. So My money is on KOIT!!! Fresh Chistmas!!

when the next book comes out, and live 105 loses a ton o listeners to 92.3 making the wonderful 1.7 even lower... i think they might be in line for a format change.

Say, THAT would be good for one of their HD-2 channels!

This idea might even save some of the lower powered stations. Have Metro cut a couple of these an hour, run them continuously, and put some station-generated spots between runs. No muss, no fuss, no employees.

KISQ-Kiss FM will probably go more rythmic-AC real soon, just a guess. Instead of being Old School and Today's R and B, they will label themselves as 'The Beat of The Bay'

As the Black Eyed Peas would say, "I gotta Feelin' "

Um...this happened at 12:01am Thursday morning....not exactly like you're predicting anything...it already is on the air with revised music...and "Beat of The Bay" slogan....

I never listened to 98.1 before now. Is the music much different now or did they just tweak it?

New slogan. The music sounds unchanged - they tweaked the play list some time ago to add more recent music, and naturally that's mixed in with a lot of older songs they've played for a decade or more.

To my knowledge, like KDFC (it's owned by the same company), KOIT does not go all-Christmas until noon on Christmas Eve. They do have 30 minute sets of christmas music before that mixed in with programming, but as far as I know that's all it is.

"The Beat of the Bay" - how original... Hey, I have some old Energy stickers that say that!
And there may be some old "Power 92.7" ones around...

WHAT?? KOIT goes all-Xmas before Thanksgiving, usually. You get to hear "Feliz Navidad" every 2 hours for more than a month.

At least they waited until the other station wasn't using the slogan anymore. Radio imaging is famously derivative.

Years ago, Top 40 KYA was "the Boss of the Bay," then later "the Rock of the Bay."

I recall in the 80s that at least 2 stations used the same slogan at the same time - there was "More Music KMEL", and "More Music K-101".

Historically, the Bay Area has had 2 KOITs. "Star" is on its second use; the first being for the 98.9/99.1 combo in the late 80s. There are some other repeats that my brain can't dredge up at the moment.

I've noticed that among the other minor tweakings, 98.1 has dropped the "FM" in its imaging, in favor of just "98-1 Kiss."

Don't think The Band's little surge is going to last! Seriously, how many times can you hear "Don't Stop Believin"?? So incredibly boring!

Am I alone here??

I see them going Classic Hits (like K-Earth or KOOL). The Bay needs a station like this badly!

KOOL sounds great in Phoenix and doing very, very well! They do Disco, R&B, Rock and a few 60's tunes too! What a formula!

Who knows, LIVE 105 or Alice may surprise and do something like this? The format hole is there, someone should take it and run!!
