Next Media and Canton Radio

Good Morning:

My wife and I will soon be relocating to Canton (for family reasons). We own our own business but are former radio veterans in sales and news. Can anyone say what kind of operation Next Media is running at WHBC? How is the management team there? Worth looking into for work?

Thanks,

Mike Daly

Mike -

Welcome back to North Canton! Although I can't speak for Next Media, I can share the successes of the Clear Channel cluster here in the Akron/Canton Market (Although I am somewhat biased!). If you're looking to return to radio, I'd be very interested in speaking with you about a sales position with Clear Channel Radio Akron/Canton. Please feel free to give me a call at: 330-492-4700 or shoot me a quick email.

Thanks for the input Yekimi, but as the name implies I've worked for "the dark side" before, I guess before it was known as "the dark side." What I've found is that every Clear Channel market is different. Some are just god-awful, and others are pretty good. I wouldn't rule it out. Is Akron/Canton sold as one market? Which stations are the top billers? How much radio revenue is there?

In response to your question as how the market it sold, it varies between stations and clients. Akron/Canton has always been a very profitable radio market. Our cluster has recently expanded to 5 properties (WKDD, WRQK, WHOF, WHLO and WARF), all with their individual success stories that I would be more than happy to share with you in a more personal venue. Why don't you give me a call and I'll be more than happy to go into further detail about our cluster and the market.

HBC is and always has and always will be the cash cow.
KDD does okay in Canton Metro, but think Green/Jackson TWP.
ZKL is up in each billing cycle
RQK is stable as always
HOF is up

Cumulus still mines quite a bit of change out of the valley, especially with being Canton's only country station
