next rumor 790

There have been some reports that the owner of 790 wants to terminate his contract with Lincoln Financial. (Miami Herald) Since LF doesn't even want to be in the radio business, it's unlikely they will continue to operate the station as a sports station.

But already there is talk about another AM taking an sports format. After all, QAM isn't sports in the midday.

What AM stick would be interested in doing sports talk that hasn't tried before? Not sure there is enough interest in this town to support two sports radio stations.

Had heard something similar about 790 but does anyone know when is Feinberg's court date for his arrest on allegedly beating up his girlfriend?

This is great news. Now if they put some more local talk on, that would be even better.

Isn't 640 owned by James Crystal who has never invested in terms of programming for their 850 stick much less 640? I would highly doubt they would try to compete in the sports talk arena and even if they did, it would probably be much more syndicated sports talk (Dan Patrick, etc).

what's wrong with syndicated? Rome? Dan Patrick? better than the local guys in Miami ever thought they could be

Nothing is wrong with it. A lot of it is really good. The problem with syndicated radio here is when Rome is interviewing the head coach at Oklahoma State. Who here give's a crap? I agree that some hosts are better than the local guys BUT some are not. I hear some of these guys (and ladies) on syndicated radio and I wonder how they got hired in the first place. Some of the hosts on ESPN radio are the worst.
