Nextmedia sells whbc am & fm

If memory serves correct, NextMedia paid 43 million for WHBC FM/AM some years back.

Ouch! Talk about severely overpaying. Great stations, but shoot....Canton's not even in the top 100 markets. I was shocked the day the sale was announced originally: 43 million in that small a market? Pweh!

Supposedly the price he paid for these 33 stations is $91,000,000. So that breaks down to $2,757,575.76 cents per station.

Indeed....a HUGE loss for Next Media.

It was 43 million dollars for WHBC FM&AM when NM bought it some years ago. Many of us were shocked....speechless that anybody would pay that much for 2 stations (one a 55+ AM) in a market rank 100+.

Now about 91 million for 33 stations? Pweh! Wow!

I just hope this doesn't mean any more jobs gone from WHBC-AM/FM. That place has gone through enough bodies gone, especially after the 2007-present changes, including the big purge of '09.

I do think the FM is in a better position after John Stewart and Pat Deluca each arrived as PD and AMD host respectively.
