Nexus NBE250

Anyone heard of this transmitter? Source for a manual?

250 watt combined exciter/power amplifier 3RU, LCD display

Apparently needs a password to change frequency, there's a tiny output power adjust on the front panel.

Can't find anything through Google search, although may simply not guessing the right search terms.

Back panel input block looks like basic RVR with several SCA inputs + MPX and plastic shaft pots to set levels.

5.4.4 Settings Menu (Set)
This menu lets to read and set the operating frequency.
Menu 7
TEX300LCD
12 / 26 Rev User Manual . 1.0 - 24/02/06
F1 After having set a new frequency value, press the ENTER button to confirm the choice. The exciter will release from the current frequency (the LOCK LED turns off) and it will latch onto the new operating frequency (LOCK turns back on). Instead, if you press ESC or let the timeout go by, the frequency will remain set at the previous value.

That's like my Armstrong. But this box only has two buttons on the front, to the right of the LCD display. (Friend bought the thing used--don't have it right before me at the moment). Plus this "enter password" screen, which kind of makes it useless unless there is a way to bypass the password.

I got a Nicom like that, driving their 2KW amp in backup service. Two buttons and an lcd. Send me a PM, I'll hunt up the default P/W Tuesday if ya want. I think it's 1234 or either 12345, but I can look.

Nexus was a joint venture Leo Ashcraft had with Nicom, hence the rebadged name. Not sure they still have that relationship or not.Little John is on the right track with the default password.

Found both Leo Ashcraft's site and the Nicom 250 watt unit. That's what this is, the rebranded "Nexus" unit just moves around the front panel controls and display. This has been very helpful, if littlejohn can find me the programming info I can forward it on to my friend. Who should know better than to buy a strange transmitter on E-bay.

(Suspect that's where it will go back to, although it does seem to work. We didn't have more than a 100 watt dummy load, cranked it up to 130 watts briefly.)

I'll try to chase it down tomorrow if you send me an email addy. It's fairly intuitive, once you read the steps. The little thins seem to work fairly well.

Thought I did through the PM system. But anyway-- it's TPT at LiteRock93R.com (and that should fool the spam bots as well).
