I think I noticed a typo.

For MNF on 10 October you put Bears vs. Lions, in Detroit. I can't remember the last time Detroit was on primetime.

Detroit Lions 2008: 0-16 Still the low mark to beat in sports history :'(

Both NBC and ESPN have some good games. That is if their is a season.

I can't remember the last time either Lions were on a Sunday Night or Monday Night. But its good to see. They did alright last season. The worst team last season was Carolina Panthers.

What, no Buffalo Bills? What in the name of Chris Berman is going on here? I'm shocked, I tell ya!

Furthermore, one might make an argument that since it's ESPN, as opposed to a broadcast network like NBC (or ABC, as it used to be), that it doesn't make much of a difference that the Lions are hosting a Monday night game on ESPN. Let's not forget that just a few years ago, the Cleveland Browns not only hosted a Monday night game on ESPN, but in that season, they had three Monday nighters scheduled to play! Needless to say, the Browns ended up following a phenomenal breakout season with a colossal failure - I think they lost all of their Monday night matchups that year - and ESPN now considers them an afterthought (and rightly so).

... I meant to write, nationally-televised games in prime-time.

But now that you bring that up: Hasn't the time come to give the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game to another team, like, say, the Patriots? It's time for a new tradition to begin.

They were trounced - shut out, in fact - 35-0 by St. Louis, making NFL schedulers think twice about scheduling any nationally-televised games based in Detroit, let alone merely involving them, for the following decade.

The Lions went 2-14 that season.

they don't need to have good teams on Thanksgiving, people will watch the Lions and some other team with a losing record, and people will always watch the Cowboys

Browns/Steelers is usually a good game, even if the teams aren't that great, and both teams have a pretty good national fan base - lots of displaced NE Ohioans and Western Pennsylvanians out there.

I wonder who picks up the NFL Network local rights to this one...I believe either WJW/8 (Fox) or WUAB/43 (MyNet) are likely to do so this year, with a chance of it landing on WKYC/3 (NBC, Browns preseason home)...
