The new NFL distribution maps will be out this week and you can find out which game will be in your area by going to this addy:

http://www.gribblenation.net/nflmaps/

Also, for those in the state of Arizona, all of the Cardinals home games have been sold out due to the new stadium and will be televised locally.

Not sure if we in Phoenix are better off now than before.

Before:
CBS game at 10:00, featured Fox doubleheader game at 1:00 (1:15).
Detroit at Arizona on Fox at 1:00 blacked out.

Now:
Fox game at 10:00, CBS game at 10:00, Detroit at Arizona on Fox at 1:00.
Featured Fox doubleheader game at 1:00 (1:15) not seen.

Give it time. Wednesday's not here yet. FOX will have to add the Arizona Cardinals game in AZ if the game is sold out by Wednesday.

Cheers :D

Until satelite tv, the league was considering dropping this insipid blackout rule, which penalizes those cities whose teams are successful, by often denying them the featured game of the day at 4 pm eastern / 1pm pacific.

My rule: Every city gets three games every sunday. Period. If your team doesnt sell out, fine. you dont see that game. But dont make the rest of us suffer by making us missing a key matchup.

However, with NFL Sunday Ticket being so popular, the league would rather you subscribe to that instead of whining about a 20th century provincial attitude....

My post was a generic "then and now" scenario, not necessarily specific
to next weekend or any weekend, depicting "before" where we only saw
two games when the Cardinals were home (and blacked out) but normally
got to see the Fox's featured doubleheader game...as opposed to "now"
where we'll get three games but not get some of the late A-games since
the (sold-out) Cards home games are at 4 ET/1 PT.

Last year, Fox typically assigned their fifth- or sixth-tier announcers to
the Cardinals games--not exactly Fox's A-list.

Not to worry. This year, the Cardinals are going to be soooo good, you'll see the A-list announcers doing Cards games by the end of the year. At least that's what Michael Bidwill told me.

Sure they'll be good! And the Boston Red Sox are gonna make the playoffs! Well...maybe not! :)

I understand the cynicism but the way the NFL works it is unlike any other profesional league. With the cap and free agency things change from year to year. The past three seasons the Super Bowl runner up hasn't even made the playoffs. I actually consider the Cardinals the 2nd best team in their divison based on the moves that were made. No tam can be counted out at the beginning. That's what makes the NFL the most ntriguing of the professional leagues. In baseball and basketball you pretty much know where your team stands weeks before the season starts. And most of the time you are right. but in the NFL if you don't like your team this year just wait until next year. The roster will have changed...sometimes dramtically and chances are you will have a different product on the field.

In other words....Cardinals get a Wild Card spot in the playoiffs. That's my bold prediction.

As was mentioned earlier, ALL Cardinal games will air this season in Arizona since the entire home schedule has already sold out. Since the first game is vs the 49ers, I expect Fox's 6th-string announcing team to cover that one. ;D

And that will be mostly because the 49ers suck and the Cardinals are by far and away the better team (If you saw how they played against Denver last week, you'd see why I say that).

I just got off the site.....CBS just release theirs for the first week. The majority of the country will have the Broncos-Rams (Primary). Secondary will be the Bengals-Chiefs.

I was at the game, so I saw. The Cards should be the better team, but far-and-away? That's stretching it. Especially if Warner should go down and Leinart isn't ready to go.

But back to TV - and this speaks to an earlier thread on cable games: the Cardinals play on Monday night on 10/16 - an ESPN game. Who will be airing the game locally, if at all? I thought KTVK had it in the past - does anyone know if it will be on local broadcast TV?

I have more faith in Leinart than in Hurt ** er, I mean Kurt ** Warner. ;D Both will live and die by that still-putrid O-line.

The game is already sold out so it will be on local TV in Phoenix (not sure about Tucson).

The Cards' website doesn't list any other local TV outlets other than KNXV-TV 15 (who carried the preseason games), but they also don't specifically mention that game. Since the game will be on ESPN and KNXV is an ABC affiliate, I'd guess they'd carry it. I think it'd be up to ESPN to contract with an individual station, not the Cards since the ESPN feed would be carried. Maybe ESPN hasn't made a decision yet, but my guess would be KNXV.

There's also no mention on the Bears' website of which Chicago station will carry the game, but WMAQ-TV 5 carried the preseason games there. Wouldn't surprise me if it was WLS-TV 7 instead, since they're an ABC O&O.

I don't understand why WIAT 42, the CBS station in Birmingham, is not airing the Tennessee Ttians game? They did not air most of the Titans game last season either?

I'm pretty sure the game will be aired in Tucson, based on my experience with the Buffalo/Rochester markets in NY. IIRC, KECY in Yuma/El Centro always aired Cardinals home games last year; I think all of the TV markets in AZ are obligated to carry Cardinals games, except for blackout (don't quote me on that).

Real quick...what will the west coast NBC affiliates air between tonight's Dolphins win at Pittsburgh and local news / "The Tonight Show"? Also, aren't there times this season where there'll be either two Monday night or two Sunday night games on the schedule?

There is only one Monday night where there are 2 games (Week 1-Minnesota at Washington and San Diego at Oakland). No Sunday night doubleheaders.

There are two games on Christmas night (Week 16, a Monday) since there's no SNF game that week due to Christmas Eve. The first one (Eagles-Cowboys) is on NBC at 5 PM EST, and the second (Jets-Dolphins) is at 8:30 PM EST on ESPN.

My bad......Looks like I will be watching them and the Lakers-Heat game early in the day on ABC.

I don't think this is off topic but it appears there is some sort of conspiracy/collusion between the NFL and the cable companies. Let me explain. In Northbridge MA, we get Fox 25 Boston located about 35 mi away and easily receivable in town with a loop antenna. Fox 64 in providence (located closer to Northbridge, MA than Boston is is not offered on cable even though it can be received in town, maybe not with a loop antenna but pretty easily. On the CBS side, we get Channel 4, Boston on cable; we don't get chgannel 12 on cable even though the transmiiter in Rehoboth is closer to us than Boston and the off air picture quality is excellent. As a result we lose out on some NFL games unless we choose (and do) watch them on a seperate TV not hooked up to cable.
