NFL/MLB Area Coverage

Just yesterday, we went to Ocean City, MD for a one-day vacation there at the beaches. I am wondering that since the Delmarva Peninsula has only two TV stations, and the area is considered to be either in a Baltimore or Washington market, which NFL teams do either CBS or FOX mostly carry during the regular season locally there?

As for baseball, which teams are the media were mostly focused on during sports reports?

I'm guessing that they would get the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC? The NFC would likely be split with the Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers. I know Salisbury has CBS and ABC. Does either station offer FOX as a subchannel on their digital counterparts?

WBOC/16/CBS has Fox as its' subchannel
WMDT/47/ABC has CW as its' subchannel

So, in the Delmarva, you are NBC-less OTA... (I believe that there is a MPT PBS station on the peninsula...). 47 used to be a dual NBC/ABC affiliate, but dropped NBC a while back...

Jim

Eastern Shore is a secondary market

Salisbury is designated by the NFL as a secondary market for the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins. WBOC-16 must carry Ravens away games aired on CBS; Fox 21 Delmarva must carry Redskins away games aired on Fox.

But could they pull in Baltimore, Washington, or even Atlantic City's NBC stations?

A couple of Baltimore and Washington channels are carried on cable in the MD and southern DE portions of the Delmarva peninsula. Fox 5 from Washington and NBC 11 from Baltimore come to mind. I think there used to be more, but they were cut loose in favor of the locals. I don't know what cable would offer on the VA side of the border.

I don't think that OTA reception of Balto/Wash stations would be good in most areas (under normal conditions), unless you're just east of Chesapeake Bay and can take advantage of line of sight. Farther east would be tough.

Talk about a stupid thread

WBAL-TV11 from Baltimore is the de facto NBC station for the Eastern Shore. Comcast carries TV11 throughout the Salisbury DMA.

You could have found that out by going to Zap2it and entering zip codes 21801, 21842 or 21613.

Besides, NOBODY watches Atlantic City TV in Ocean City. How many people in Ocean City are going to rig an antenna to watch a station that does not provide Maryland news?
