NFL Network and Cablevision

Now that the "food fight" between Cablevision and Scripps is over with, now we wait until Cablevision finally adds NFL Network to their lineup. Or, at least, I am. On the digital tier, channels 140-149 are reserved for sports channels. Channel 149 is MLB Network, and the channel before (148) is NBA TV. I just know they're reserving channel 147 for NFL Network. They're probably leaving it open as they continue to talk with the NFL about carriage of the channel. I mean, who else would they give that spot in their lineup to - the NHL Network?

Look, if Cablevision can settle their differences with the owner of the Food Network and HGTV, I'm sure they will come to terms with the NFL at some point to carry their network.

true, but the NFL also has its issues with Time Warner too, so I wonder where NFL Network will be carried first

The annoying part of the NFL network is that in many cases, it ends up being placed in a more expensive package, rather than being part of basic cable. But other than a handful of games on weekday nights in the second half of the season, the NFL Network is mostly re-runs and feature shows, hardly worthy of an additional fee. But it's a preview of what TV may be like in a few years as broadcast rights continue to become more expensive.

In Conclusion, The Jets will host The Bengals on Thanksgiving Night over at The New Meadowlands Stadium, Unfortunately, both cities are served by Time Warner, which like CableVision does'nt carry The NFL Network. Cablevision serves The Manhattan area, while Time Warner serves The New Jersey & Long Island Areas of NYC.

Per NFL TV rules, the game will be made available to a broadcast station in each team's home market, just as the ESPN Monday Night games are. I believe the CW station has picked it up.

Additionally, WKRC in Cincinnati will be simulcasting NFL Network coverage on Thanksgiving night, as well as WPIX in New York.

Knowing Cablevision, they would put The Tiddly Winks channel on before the NFL Network!! :D

Isn't the whole reason Time Warner and Cablevision and a few other cable providers won't add the NFL Network is the fault of the NFL not the cable providers? As they want more money then other networks like MLB Network and NBA TV.

Plus its unfair that the NFL gave Direct TV the exclusive rights to NFL Sunday Ticket which I would say is another reason Time Warner and Cablevision won't add NFL Network. I don't blame them one bit.

Don't forget. NFL Network would need TWO channels now (Or at least one shared on Sundays with NFL RedZone).

Cheers :D

To me if you are a true NFL fan, you switch to DirecTV. Red Zone is OK but nothing in comparison to having eight games on one screen at a time. This is just another example of how inferior cable still is compared to satellite, and especially DirecTV. Since DirecTV is a nationally delivered service, it provides programming that is in the best interest of the entire country, whereas individual cable systems are local and therefore have less of an audience to please. This is why most new channels that launch usually do so on the satellite providers first and usually long before most cable outlets can and will do so. In this day of lightning fast technology, cable is still relatively slow in providing what most subscribers want. With the exception of an inferior on-demand system, DirecTV is head and shoulders above cable for delivering the programming that most subscribers want. Monthly fees are quite comparable and the picture and sound aren't bad either. I have had DirecTV for 12 years, and NFL Sunday Ticket for as long, and I would never go back to cable. Just my two cents...

But having NFL REDZONE would be worth the price.
Amen to that. :) Who needs DirecTV & it's PROPRIETARY Sunday Ticket package? SCREW EM !!!!!

Cheers & 73 :D

Fortunately local stations will come to the rescue though.....

If not, they incur the wrath of Speaker Boehner even though I think he's a wimp (Cincinnatti is his home district)

Cheers & 73 :D
