NFL Network Replaces Papa, Millen & Theismann In The Booth

Now, this is interesting: The NFL Network's booth team of Bob Papa, Joe Theismann and Matt Millen are being replaced by Brad Nessler, a collegiate sports announcer who last called NFL games on the radio in the 1980's. His analyst partner is a familiar face to NFL Network viewers: Mike Mayock, who was all over the network leading up to and during the NFL Draft with his "mock drafts." Although he does have experience as an analyst for Notre Dame football games on NBC.

Would it be fair to consider this yet another failure for Matt Millen?

But Brad works for ESPN.

Apparently (1) not any more, or (2) he's not tied to an exclusive contract.

I suspect the latter. Bill Raftery is another guy who appears on two networks (CBS and ESPN), so apparently The Northeast-wide Leader doesn't necessarily disallow moonlighting with the competition.

I didn't have a problem with Bob Papa. Matt Millen has been a successful color guy before he tried his hand at GM. Because of the debacle he did to the Detroit Lions I just have a harder time taking him seriously for any "expert" analysis. Joe Theismann has been an insufferable dink for a decade and a half going way back to when Mike Patrick called NFL games on ESPN.

I say good riddance. However, no one was worse than Bryant Gumball.

Won't bother me as I can't watch the games on NFL Network as Time Warner Cable doesn't ofter it due to the fee that comes with the NFL Network.

Millen's reign of error should disqualify him from ever being in front of a camera/microphone during a football game - Pop Warner, high school, college, or pro - ever again. His credibility was destroyed by his complete and utter incompetence, although Bear, Packer, and Viking fans sure loved his tenure in Detroit. ;D

He is the Isiah Thomas of football. He was a great player, but don't ask him to do anything else in the game.
