NFL Network To Carry Arena Football

Arena Football 1 is the successor to the Arena Football League. The AFL went bankrupt last year, but many of the franchises which were originally in the AFL are now a part of Arena Football 1.

It was fun to watch back when it wasn't affiliated with the NFL and it was shown on ESPN on tape delay late on Friday and Saturday nights. The games were also fun to attend when Nashville had their original Nashville Kats in the late '90s until the early 2000s, but after the NFL took over the league and started showing the games on ABC and NBC on Sunday afternoons, it was no longer enjoyable to watch or to attend the games. But without the original Arena League, we wouldn't have had Kurt Warner in the NFL.

It's actually a sorry excuse for football. I don't look for it to do any better on the NFL Net than it does/did on NBC.

Actually, The Bengals are a sorry excuse for football on any level. The Great Paul Brown has spun in his grave for many years, while his creation began from a credible franchise, only to see future owners spend less than nothing..and then tons of dollars to build to a level of mediocrity, only to crash and burn again, featuring freaks, cons and losers...and that goes for many of their fans as well.

Arena Football is fun. Thats it. It was never meant to "become the NFL" or even a rival. In fact, when the NFL bought 49 percent of the league, they shoved so called stars like John Elway and Mike Ditka down our throats...guys who couldnt smell another gig in the NFL or college, so they brought their inflated egos and quadrupled the payrolls..and promptly killed the AFL.

Don't like it? Fine. Its not for everyone. Dont watch. Go back to watching your dysfunctional wide receivers and lame armed SoCal quarterback underachieve for another season, and this year, see if you can teach your players NOT to hop in the bed of a moving pickup truck....

I'm surprised Versus didn't get it. They aired several of the UFL games in the fall, and it has actually become a decent network.

As for Arena Football, I say it's great to have some kind of pigskinl to watch during the NFL's offseason. It's too bad though that NFLN got the deal since so many people still don't get that network and it will definitely limit the league's exposure.

Arena football comes across better on TV than it does watching in person. No, it's not the NFL, but nice to have an alternative to baseball, especially after your favorite basketball or hockey team gets bounced from the playoffs.

I still wouldn't mind having a full-fledged spring league for pro football. Supposedly a revived USFL will launch next year, and the AAFL (which was supposed to launch in 2008 but was shelved due to the economy) might finally get off the ground.
