NHL Playoff Coverage

Interesting. Flipping around pn Sunday night, I land on "Versus" which is airing the CBC-TV coverage of Vancouver vs Dallas.

Cool. Hey, save some money in production costs, by airing the Canadian feed in the States, thus affording at least some cable coverage, pending the next Versus expansion.

Versus does that a lot. The other night it was TSN's coverage of a playoff game. Personally, I kind of like it. The announcers are good and the camera work is excellent. No need to duplicate the work if you don't have to on something like this.

I'll take CBC/TSN/SportsNet coverage of the NHL any day. The Canadian broadcasters have a love and respect for the game that you don't find on American television. Hockey is ingrained in Canadian culture, and it shows on that country's coverage.

Funny. Earlier in the week, they did their own coverage of the 4OT Canucks-Stars game, even though CBC also covered the game. Ironically, I watched the end of the second OT and the rest of the game on CBC. (Being in Seattle and a Comcast customer, I get both.)
