Nice deal on an HD Radio

I just ran across this deal on an HD Radio.

HD-100 radio for $75 shipped after rebate at http://radiosophy.com .

$99.95 introductory price
$15 shipping
-$40 rebate (form available at the site)
__________
$74.95

I ordered one so I can check out these San Antonio/Austin HD stations before they get a heavy load of commercials. :)

Any review on this radio? I amost got one but heard one of the radiosophy's was not any good. I have the Radioshack accurian which plays nicly through my stereo. I'm wanting to get another one though, that sounds like a great deal if its sensitive! The HD-1 channels sound great but the HD-2 really needs to improve the soundquality.

are they gona come out with just an HD tuner you can add to a stereo or a reciever with an HD tuner?
I only found one reciever that did, which was at Bjorns. Sounded great on a pair of $5000 speakers.

The Sangean HDT-1 199.00$ (159.00$ after 40 dollar rebate) Is a tuner

It was I who gave it the initial review. I am satisfied for what I purchased it for, as indicated in the review. I still have not had time to do the complete testing (external speakers, AM etc.), as I have been tied up with a project in work. To answer one poster's question though, there is an external coax connector for an external antenna. You just unscrew the dipole antenna, and attach the external antenna to the connector.
Again, as soon as work permits, I will try to finish my testing. John E B

I got my HD-100 today. Here's my quick review after a few hours of use.

The radio has good reception. I get strong signals on all of my local stations. Finding the HD signals is straightforward. The menu operation is simple, which is good since the manual is light on details of HD operation. (A strange choice, since this is the radio's most attractive feature.)

The case feels to me like cheap plastic and the radio itself is lightweight. The power brick is big and weighs almost as much as the radio itself. As the review in the previous post stated, the only option for power is AC, since there is no provision for batteries, despite the large and more than likely, quite hollow case. IMO, the radio would feel more substantial if a few C or D batteries could be installed and give it some heft. As lightweight as it is for its footprint, I worry about it sliding off of the table onto the floor with a gentle nudge.

My bottom line is that this is a good low-end way to try out HD radio. If you live in a market with a lot of HD signals, you'll have fun trying out this radio. If you don't have many HD signals where you live, you'll think the radio is overpriced for what it is.

Let me know if it has a coaxal input for antenna so I can hook on my outdoor antenna to it,, I'm acually thinking about buying one for the price not bad!

There is a coaxial input for an FM antenna. The telescoping whip screws onto the same jack.

Also there are separate rear panel inputs for an AM loop antenna.

Power Brick? Don't tell me they've put the power supply outside the radio! Automatic disqualification.
Too cheap a design for me to consider. The crappy wiring on the DC side, and the crappy connectors are easily broken.
And then the there's no place for batteries? Maybe there's room to build a power supply or stuff the brick where it belongs.
I hate wall warts and power bricks. If the supply is not inside, someone's cutting one corner too many.
