Nice DX last night

I was picking up Houston stations almost like a local last night here near Austin, I guess I wasn't the only one listening because someone called in the box saying they were picking them up in San marcos.

It was working the other direction as well - 103.5 was coming in like a local around Houston. It is actually located in San Marcos.

The actual tower is between Kyle and Buda I drive by it sometimes when I'm out that direction.

103.5 & 99.5 were frequent visitors when I lived out in Katy, especially late at night. 105.3 KSMG & 97.3 KAJA were there too, but less often.

Yep, it is a 1200ft tower just west of I35 near Buda.....when they were building the stick, I drove by and the gate was unlocked and opened....and the lock was set to the UNLOCK code..wrote it down but it probably got changed later :) CC owned it at one time iirc....when the Conroe/Huntsville 103.5 came on the air (KVST), the 103.5 Austin KILLED it in Conroe the 1st morning due to tropo....and the KVST site was somewhat in a valley with its tower closer to Huntsville...then it got changed to 103.7 and moved closer...to a tower near Willis....where 99.7 KVST is now...and of course 103.7 was sold to Cumulus for $32.5 million...that was before they have to build a 2000 ft tower site, etc..(another 5 mil or so)...and how much did Air 1 pay for the 103.7 station? $5 million total....real good ROI Cumeless....
