Nice E Skip event today 7/11/13 here in Florida (3 videos)

Late this morning and early afternoon, there was impressive E Skip here in Tampa coming from New York state and Canada.

Many frequencies were so overloaded with many signals that it was rough to get IDs.

Here are three of the stations where I got with IDs.

WCMF Rochester, New York @ 1085 miles...

CKFM 'Virgin Radio' Toronto, Ontario @ 1100 miles...

CFNY 'The Edge' Toronto, Ontario @ 1100 miles...

Even if there's no more E Skip this season, I won't complain. :)

Nice catches! I was getting some suspected E-skip reception in Lorain, OH this morning between 9 and 9:30am EDT while on a delivery run:

93.7 - Heard a station ID as "Y94 Hit Music" (or something along those lines) Also caught a predicted high of 99 degrees for Sunday later on. Weather Channel is predicting 81 for Sunday in Fargo. Looks like WDAY/Fargo, ND and then some other unknown station
99.1 - ESPN Affiliate - possibly KSOO/Sioux Falls, SD

On the way into work just before 8AM I had some decent tropo to Buffalo and Pittsburgh, getting WTSS 102.5 and WDVE 102.5 alternating.

Other stations I got IDs from were 99.9 'K 100' WKKO Toledo
99.1 'Rocky 99.' WRKW 'The Laurel Highlands Rock Station' Edensburg, Pa.
96.3 CFMK Kingston, Ontario

And a little later on 99.1 I heard an ID for WNEW New York.
On 102.1 I later got a strong station that was in and out and gone but I could tell it was WIOQ Philadelphia because there was a commercial about Six Flags Great Adventure and then in another commercial, it mentioned Bryn Mawr which is a Philly suburb.

It was a real exciting day and I think I'm E Skipped out (worn out from all that DXing) for the time being. LOL

99.1 isn't New York - it's WNEW in Bowie, MD (now an all-news format, formerly WHFS in the '80s and '90s)

I don't know what that one was but it wasn't the Toronto station which was still in commercial break. The other of the three stations on 99.1 besides Virgin Radio Toronto was 'K 100' from Toledo.

But during one of the many fade in and outs of all the stations at once, I heard 'New York' mentioned, so I think it probably was a 99.9 somewhere in New York state. For all I know, there may have been a total of 4 stations at once battling it out on that frequency.

I didn't know that. My bad.

Having grown up within range of New York TV and radio, I associated the call letters WNEW with that city because of Channel 5 and 1130 AM.

Apparently, both have changed their call letters since then.

From the Vero Beach, FL Global Tuners node - made one log and a tentative log. All times Eastern, YESTERDAY 7/11.

12:28PM - 96.1 WHNN Bay City, MI - ad for Cabela's and mention of Saginaw. Then into Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark". About 1100mi.
12:33PM - 93.3 UNID "...93" and rock music. Probably Z93 WKQZ in MI, again around 1100 mi.

This morning when I got up, I still had my radio out sitting on the table from yesterday and I thought I would check to see if there was anything coming in. I hadn't even seen the online maps.

It was left on 102.1 when I turned it on and I heard the same commercial I did on 102.1 during that E Skip yesterday when I got WIOQ Philadelphia.

A commercial for Six Flags Great Adventure. It then faded.

Didn't have time to listen for longer than a couple minutes so I don't know if I caught the tail end of an E Skip or the beginning.

Those two are semi-regular tropo catches here. I was getting them this morning, along with 90.1 WUCX and 98.1 WKCQ
