At Curtis Media's oldies "Y102.9" WWMY in Raleigh - Shawn Matthews is the new Ops Manager, and Doug Purtee will do middays/imaging. PD Bill Campbell remains as the afternoon guy, but will step away from his programming duties to spend more time on his outside voiceover business.

Mucho congrats to a couple of good people. I worked with Shawn and Doug at CC and they are both great radio people. Also kudos to Curtis & Co. for making the effort to run real radio. The corporate operators should pay more attention...maybe they'd stop bleeding.

This IS what corporate radio does! They went the cheap route just like everyone else. All they did was "reassign" responsibilities and possibly put a few more schleckels in the Shawn and Dougs pocket.

He's right. They should have voice tracked all day and night and let everyone go. How I could miss that obvious point?

Come on dude, don't be dumb. What they should have done was not even track - just straight music without anyone there to entertain us or tell us what's going on in the community.

Is that the Bill Campbell who used to work for ad agenies in the Triad?
;D

Must be "kin" to Bob Campbell" Woops I said I wouldn't do that again, didn't I ?

Not the ad guy from Greensboro. And, no kin to "Bob" Campbell.
However, I did pitch for the Red Sox, starred in ROCKETMAN, and spent a term as the Mayor of Atlanta.
There's alot of Bill Campbells in the world.
