Was down in Dover today, TOM is a pretty good format, better than BEN, the HD-2 is the same as WRFF's HD-2. WDSD has a good Classic Country format on their HD-2...this would be a good thing for WXTU to run on their HD-2 instead of that new modern stuff they have on now....I noticed there is still a six bay antenna on the middle large tower for WDSD's 50kw...is WRDX using the same bays as WDSD reason being, I did not notice any other bays on the tower....The two HD's carried about the same distance up to Christiana....even though WDSD is much stronger than WRDX on the main signal...could the two HD-2's be running at the same power or are their restrictions the same as on the main signal, but I dont think so because they traveled the same distance, but WDSD went into Philly on the main channel....where-as WRDX was gone at the Naamans Road exit...

So how do you compare WDSD's country music vs WXTU's. If WDSD has a solid signal in Philly, would Philadelphians choose a Delaware country station that is over 50 miles away over the local Philly brand of Country? So far, it would appear not. Yet, I live in between both Philly and Dover Country stations in New Castle County and I prefer WDSD over WXTU.

I'm not partial to either Tom or Ben FM's, so I don't listen to either.

I remember listening to the 94.7 frequency when I was a kid (late 60's), I think they were WDOV-FM and played many oldies, I can still recall hearing California Sun by the Riveras a long time ago...Then when they moved to "Big Country Stereo 95 Dover" I still would give them a tune it around 1977 or so Don the Dude was a jock there, nice guy and would always play my requests....I always noticed they played many Country Classics compared to WRCP and later WUSL which was country at the time...I really dont listen to todays country I prefer real country 1955-1975...they would have an all request show on Sunday nights also for Country favorites....after they went to Rock I drifted away from them...it seems their signal is not as good as it used to be in the South Philly area.....so in a nutshell I think now they do sound more country oriented than WXTU and their HD-2 is fantastic just wish WXTU would follow suit....

WDSD used to air a Country Time Machine Show with Donna Cavender. I believe a few months ago, she was laid off by CC Delaware. Have they kept the Country Time Machine show or did it too disappear along with Ms. Cavender.
