Nice job Bonneville!

Even more embarrassing is that KRTY now outrates Max even though you can't even hear 95.3 in most of the metro. Any bets on when and what the geniuses will try next?

KRTY even though it is a "crappy" signal still gets great ratings in the south bay because it is a local country station and NOW the only country station in the bay area, except for those lucky few in the tri-valley who on a good day pick up 1051 KNCI out of sacto and 1033 KATM out of stockton/modesto. yes, bonneville has made some interesting choices in the last couple of years, the only "prized" pooch in the bunch has been KOIT all along, I think MAX will hang around alittle while longer, now that we know KFRC won't be jacked anytime soon.....too bad the BEAR didn't make it to it's 2nd birthday, it was just starting to gain an audience.

What if they called it 95.7, the Book. The key to this station is, every 3 months, the format changes. They do this for two years (8 books worth). Then, they look at the books. CHR 0.6, Country 0.8, Talk, 0.3, etc. They analyze all the ratings, and whichever one is over a 1.0, they stick with for good. But the secret is no matter what, always call it 95.7 The Book.

The logic is - if this format is the best out of the 8 in a 3 month period, then it will likely have the most success once it gets a TV commercial.

It's people like you who think up this kind of crap in the first place, bring back more original ideas like the old KRQR THE ROCKER!!!! WTF is THE BOOK???? that is as lame-ass as calling a station the DRIVE or the WAVE....MAX is an ok station, it currently fills the void in the bay area for right now, in a year something else will come along.

No -- that would be funny. A loser. But funny.

I'm actually referring to the oldies "void" that Bonneville probably perceives exists (and maybe to some extent actually does exist) in the market now that KFRC is wowing us with the music of our lives. It would be just like Bonneville to flip yet again to fill a generic format void and execute it in their plain vanilla way that gets them a 2-share, tops. Keep in mind, by the way, that 98.1 Kiss FM is now using a pretty regular positioner (when it plays a 60s hit) that says something like "The Bay Area station for oldies."

If they don't break a 1.5-share (or close) in the next few trends, I think Max will definitely be history.
