NICE MORNING TROPO SATURDAY

I woke up Saturday morning (6/7) to find a nice tropo opening to the DC area… actually it was like having a pipeline direct from DC to the Hudson Valley. DX was almost too easy… kind of like shooting fish in a barrel, just picking off one station after another. 21 new loggings:

7:38am WBIG-100.3 Washington, DC, “Big-100.3” classic rock. 265mi.
7:56am WIHT-99.5 Washington, DC “Hot 99.5” with Ryan Seacrest and American Top 40. 258mi.
8:03am WMZQ-98.7 Washington, DC “America’s Music” country, 265 mi.
8:10am WIYY-97.9 Baltimore, MD, “98 Rock” with a program called “Indie 97.9”. 223mi
8:11am WASH-97.1 Washington, DC “Wash-FM”, only my second logging on 97.1. 258mi.
8:15am WHUR-96.3 Washington, DC with community service talk program, phone: 202-432-WHUR. 263mi.
8:19am WGRQ-95.9 Colonial Beach, VA, oldies. 299mi.
8:23am WPGC-95.5 Morningside, MD, hip-hop, 257mi.
8:25am WKHK-95.3 Colonial Heights, VA, K-95 country, 354mi.(most distant catch of the morning).
8:33am WERQ-92.3 Baltimore, MD. “92Q-Jams”, hip-hop, 223mi.
8:44am WNNT-100.9 Warsaw, VA, “River Country”, 305mi.
8:48am WWDC-101.1 Washington, DC “DC-101” with The Greaseman! I didn’t know he was still on radio… I used to listen to him years ago while vacationing on the Virginia Eastern shore. 254mi.
8:52am WTOP-103.5 Washington, DC, news, 259mi.
8:55am WIGO-104.9 Whitestone, VA, “We-Go Country”, 310 mi.
9:00am WAVA-105.1 Arlington, VA, with Wall Street Journal Report, although I believe the station is religious. 255mi.
9:02am WCSP-90.1 Washington, DC “C-Span Radio”, via RDS ID, and I got this one in HD with audio on 3 channels!! By far most distant HD reception on new Sony HD radio. 263mi.
9:10am WETA-90.9 Washington, DC, ID’d via RDS “WETA-FM”. classical. 263mi,.This was 9th DC logging of the morning, bringing 5-year total to 11 from DC.
9:24am WOJL-105.5 Louisa, VA, “Sam”, real nice reception of a Class A at 339mi.
9:34am WJZW-105.9 Woodbridge, VA with True Oldies Channel, 267mi.
9:35am WJFK-106.7 Manassas, VA talk, Virginia #28. 267mi.
10:16am WBJC-91.5 Baltimore, MD, with classical music, I had been following them all morning, finally caught them in a break with ID. Maryland #25. 223mi.

The good majority of these loggings were with solid stable signals, just like listening to a local station. MY FM DX Log total now is 1071, since May 2003.
