Nice Present

Instead of one of us getting the year end gift, seems like they did this time. ;D

The FCC has socked MAX MEDIA stations in NORFOLK, NC and CLEAR CHANNEL stations in GREENVILLE, SC fines totaling $22,000 for "failing to comply with the recruitment and self-assessment requirements" of the Commission's EEO policy.

MAX MEDIA'sWGH-A/F, WVBW, WVHT and WVSP in NORFOLK were hit with an $8,000 assessment, while CLEAR CHANNEL's WSSL, WGVL-A WESC, WLFJ-A and WROO in SOUTH CAROLINA and WMYI/HENDERSONVILLE, NC were tagged with a total of $14,000 in fines.

What exactly did they do wrong? Basically, not advertise their job vacancies in more media. The NORFOLK stations filled five of its 14 full-time vacancies by relying "solely on Internet websites and word-of-mouth referrals and vacancy postings on the employee board to fill those vacancies ... over a two-year period."

In the CAROLINAS stations' case, eight of 13 full-time vacancies were filled solely through "Internet websites and word-of-mouth referrals" ... "The Licensee repeatedly violated our recruitment requirements. ... These failures reveal a continuing lack of self-assessment."
