Nice "pro" news story ---

Chuck, that's what we have been saying. The HD 2 channels in NY do contain programing unavailable elsewhere in the market. Stations in NY are not programing their HD 2's with music you can hear elsewhere in the market and in most cases again for most of us these are formats unavailable even on distant first adjacents and in NYC to hear first adjacents on the commercial FM band you'll need a deep fringe antenna.

Yes, I know you have been saying that. Problem is, in a lot of the rest of the country, the result is a lot different. Most HD 2 channels (if they exist at all) are poorly done, offer few new choices and frequently are off the air for a long time. When they work, they seem to do little to address a potential audience that is underserved.

I'm happy for the people in NYC who are listening to an enhanced form of radio, but not many of your neighbors are having such a wonderful experience. I can think of several formats that might garner a loyal audience, but right now, they aren’t happening. I don't hold much hope for it in the near future.
