Nice writeup on KEOM

A new rag called the "Mesquite Magazine" (definitely new; this was Volume 1, Issue 1) has a nice write-up about KEOM, plus photos, etc. Pretty fair job on covering the station's history, purpose, etc. Also in the magazine: Everything you never wanted to know about KEOM's Twangmaster General, Dr. James Griffin. He loves Ebay and his Aggie ring, and drives a 5-year old Lexus. And he'd vote for a woman president if given the chance.

Robert, you're too young to be graying at the temples already, buddy. Or was that just the glare from the camera lens ???

I'll have to check that out...in the event it gets any further than one issue. :D I wonder how many writeups they'll do on the "Old Florence Homestead". That's like the only thing the city ever has to brag about.
I graduated from West Mesquite HS 17 years ago, back when the station was just a "closet" across from the office...had a few friends who worked in there. It kinda changed when Mike Wolfe passed away, but is still a good station. Dr. Griffin, though I didn't care much for him(kind of snobby) has had a hand in our radio and TV at the school district since as far back as I can remember, not to mention our planetarium.
All us Mesquite residents know who REALLY runs that station, though...Mr. Bass. ;) He represents that station like Ron Chapman rep'd KVIL.

MY wife wanted to know if there was a centerfold of Robert?...Just kidding Robert;) ..Not sure my wife is though ???

OUCH! Remind your wife to be careful what she wishes for ;D

Mike... My body hasn't been friendly to me. :( I have a few bald spots, some grey hair (Brenda likes to poke fun at me about that on occasion). I also regained quite a bit of weight I had lost. Must be from all this OLD music we are playing ;) My walking routine was severely disrupted this past summer, after my father unexpectedly entered the hospital for a bypass. Fortunately he heeded the warning signs. :) He's doing very well now.

If nothing else, I'm still young at heart! ;)

As a KEOM alum, where can I find this article/ magazine?

There were several copies laying on the counter at the Pizza Inn on Galloway (no, not the one Russ Martin and I used to work at) but closer to Town East Blvd. It's a freebie; cover is green and black with a high-schooler hitting a baseball on it.

The back cover shows Robert Bass having a beer with Enrico Marconi,Thomas Alva Edison,,and Gordon McLendon. ;)

That’s the unauthorized copy! I’ve got a reputation to maintain in front of the kids, which means they don’t need to see me drinking. ;) I think that copy also had a Robert Bass centerfold, ;D

Jake,

just curious, what year?

I could probably scan and e-mail you a copy of the article.

They're also sharing a big bowl of Wispy Boisenberry Creme Casserole Crisp, as prominently featured on "The Recipe File." If YOU would like the recipe for Wispy Boisenberry Creme Casserole Crisp, fax your request to 972-882-7470 and enter the number '47-05', or send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: KEOM, attention Brenda Wagoner's kitchen, 2600 Motley Crue Dr, Mesquite, TX.

LMAO!!!!! You guys are killing me :)

By the way, in a previous thread I was asked if a track record of how many people actually use the Recipe fax system was kept. I was talking to our receptionist about that today, and she said that according to Brenda, the average seems to be 100 fax requests / month. Pretty impressive!

Ok, the photo of Wendi is officially online. Go to http://www.knus99.com/002_wendi_at_y95.jpg . The file is HUGE...I couldn't pare it down too much or get it resized to fit your average screen.

I kinda miss that 80s teased hair thing on women.

And thanks for sharing, Robert! I owe you a big plate of Sunny Cucumber Delight Salad Bake. You know where the recipe came from...

Yeah I like her hair better in that photo, compared with one of her Miller Lite posters I've seen.

Thanks for checking, Robert. Every time I've heard "Recipe File", I've wondered how many people make the request. Since I'm almost always in my car, I've never had a chance to make a request myself, even if it was just to see if it would arrive.

I imagine the "barbequed Lima Beans with holindiase sauce " was a big hit.

Robert,

I was there from 94-96!

If you cant get it to me, no biggie. I'll get one of my parents to get it for me!
