Nichelle Nichols ("Star Trek"), age 89

OK, maybe this one? Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols dies at age 89

YES, finally that one worked. frankberry it seems that oddity that was happening with URLs not posting on the site as clickable links correctly several weeks ago may be reoccurring?

Regarding the death of Nichelle Nichols, she was a solid actor and I enjoyed her part on the Stark Trek series. A few years back when the Comedy Central celebrity roasts were a thing, they did a roast of William Shatner. Nichols was either present there, or she was on the dais. I thought she took many more shots about her race and skin color than she should have. It seems the writers had nothing else to go at her for so they chose jokes about segregation, race relations and the like, I guess since she was groundbreaking in many ways, including being the first black woman with a lead role on TV, and when she and Shatner kissed, that was one of the first interracial kisses shown on TV. Nichols handled it with grace and laughed along, but IMO after the first one or two, it got to be a little much and caused at least some to feel uncomfortable. She should've been commended for handling it as well as she did, especially with "reaction cams" in her face at those times.
