Nick At Nite This Week

I was shocked when I heard the "Moonlighting" theme last night. My first thought was 'who the hell is airing THAT?!' Low and behold, my wife said it was Nick @ Nite. I was kind of surprised they didn't at least air the pilot. I see they also have "Kate and Allie", "Benson", "Silver Spoons", "Facts Of Life" & "Night Court" scheduled to air a couple of times this week in celebration of their 20th Anniversary.

My question is: Why aren't they showing some of this NOW -- like "Moonlighting"? I really think they are overdoing it by running hour-long blocks of each 30 minute sitcom. Especially "Fresh Prince", "Cosby Show" & "Roseanne." How many other stations across the country can you see those three shows on.

I wish N@N would get the rights to show some of these "lost shows" that aren't in distribution now & not air shows you can see in syndication everywhere else. Anyone know of what other classic shows they have planned to add soon?

Unfortunately, none. In fact the shows that you mentioned like The Facts Of Life,Silver Spoons,Benson and Moonlighting are going to be shown for those nights only and that's it.

The next "classic" show that's coming to Nick at Nite is Mad About You in early 2006. Yet another show from the 1990's that has been run to death by Lifetime like they have done The Golden Girls and The Nanny. Guess by 2010 or later we will be getting reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond and Seinfeld, again endlessly rerun by TBS and local stations.

I don't consider any of the programming that is airing on Nick at Nite(and TV Land for that matter) to be classic. Anyone agree with me on that???

Probably nothing aired on Nick can be considered a classic anymore. TV Land has a few, Leave it to Beaver, Cheers, Andy Griffth, Bewitched, Gunsmoke, and Green Acres come to mind. But even most of those shows have been around in syndication for years and beat to death. I'd like to see some of the stuff that hasn't been shown much. Maybe Wagon Train or more recently News Radio.

It seems like every time I turn on TV Land they are showing Bonanza. I wish Nick would keep shows like Benson, Moonlighting, Silver Spoons, Mr. Belvidere and Webster. I would watch every night. I bought a blank video tape today so that I could tape Nick's 10pm - 12am block. Who knows when we'll see those shows again...
Edited by 6tothebronx on 06/23/05 12:01 AM.

Possibly until they come out on DVD. Speaking of Moonlighting, the first 2 seasons are out on DVD. I would like to see Benson's 1st season on DVD since they have released Soap on DVD in which Robert Guilliome started his career as Benson and Chester and Jessica visited Benson on his show during that 1st season.

I don't think that they will ever show anything like this again on Nick at Nite. They are more and more interested in 1990's shows such as Full House,Roseanne,Fresh Prince and Murphy Brown. The days of Nick at Nite showing classic shows on a regular basis is basically gone.
