Nick D. & Gary Lee

You know, these guys diserve a full time monday through friday shift. They blew away Steve & Johnny last week when they split the shift.

Granted being fill-in/weekend guys on one of the greatest stations in the country is awesome, but I just think they would do well on WLS or WCKG. WLS could use a non political show in their line-up (That is NOT a hint to bring back Dr. Laura!!!) and Nick D. is a perfect fit on WCKG.

They should at least have a higher profile on the station. Along with bringing someone in like Garry Meier, it would give "The Voice of Chicago" a hipper image. I know Spike and the Cubs do real well, but Cathy & Judy, Steve Cochrane and John Williams totally suck!

I know both of them are really involved in the performing arts. Nick is a playwrite and actor here in Chicago, and Gary Lee also is a writer and has a one-man show he tours around. Maybe those guys are happy with ther positions because it allows them time to tend to their other pursuits?

Does anyone here know? I've been listening to these guys for a few years now and think they are the best thing the station has.

Hey -

To start with I totally agree with the WLS comment - I listen mostly for entertainment and these guys are GREAT -

I heard them first during Christmas a few years ago - thankfully WGN does not do the stupid 'best of' crap. It gives us a opportunity to hear talent that are not nomally on.

It seems to me that there is enough really good talent off the air right now that there should be another talk station? They would deffinately get the ratings with Kev, Garry, Nick, Jennifer Stevens, Mo, Brooke, and a host of others.

ZZZZZZ....

With that line up they'd be right where they are now.

Nick D. and Garry Lee have always been a great combination, especially as fill-ins for Steve and Johnny, who also do an outstanding job on the overnight. However, Nick is pompous and can be dismissive during the regular Fri/Sat show to callers and to GLW, which can just put you off at times. I'd like to hear what the callers have to say or GLW for that matter, without Nick shutting them down with a commercial for his latest play.Kathy and Judy have a good show, it's intelligent, informative and very funny too!

Nick is extremely loyal to 'GN and at this point would probably only do radio at 'GN. He's been associated with 'GN for 20 years and is still not yet 40 (a rarity in itself) and barring any screw-up by the new management team, is probably not willing to leave (unless his mentor Roy Leonard suggests something to him).

And I think that Cochran's his best partner for the Saturday morning movie review segment since Leonard's retirement--the two of them seem to really like each other, something I didn't get from Steve Bertrand.
