Nick Gerard doing mornings in LA/San Diego?

Did I read somewhere that Nick is doing morinings on Saul Levine's stations in LA and San Diego? I was happy to hear that Saul took those stations back to standards! Looks like about a 50/50 mix of new and 'classic' standards.

Yes, that's right, Brian - thanks for asking. Saul Levine's 1260/LA and 540/San Diego flipped back to standards in late June, and I returned to the morning show last week (July 25).

I feel very, very fortunate to have this morning show and 2 other part-time positions where I can be myself on the air and present music I love!

It's a 7-day a week merry-go-round now, but I'm lovin' every minute of it! It's good to be busy. Any readers of these boards who are or have been on the air know it's very frustrating to go through periods where we're not practicing our craft.

So, I get to tell my Sinatra stoires and talk about Johnny Mercer and ramble on about the Gershwins and talk about the goosebumps I get listening to Jack Jones or Nat King Cole - and, with any luck, hold people's interest!

Like the one today about Frank being a perfectionist and settling on the 17th take of "I've Got You Under My Skin" - while the crew tired out and actually thought the 9th take was the best. This is exactly the kind of story that holds my interest. It's always fun to learn new facts... and whenever I hear that song again, I'll think of this story.

Congrats on the LA gig!! Are they still running Don McCullough's 'Radio Deluxe' format. I talked to Don and he sent me a media kit for his syndicated format...the demo CD had audio from the old 'K-Surf'. It was/is an excellent format. It is definitely 'new' standards, like Red in St. Louis!

Could someone post the website of these stations and do they plan
to stream. Thanks!

Thanks, Brian! No, the station is not using Radio DeLuxe this time. The music is being done in-house and leans traditional, although there's some good new stuff in there too: Pizzarelli's latest, Diane Schuur's latest, Diana Krall, the new Carly Simon "Moonlight Serenade," and of course, lots o' Rod Stewart. The music is still a work in progress.
