Nick Young Retires from CBS News

This news is a month old - but didn't see it posted anywhere on R-I.

Nick Young - anchor of the World News Roundup for the last four years, and Christopher Glenn's regular fill-in for many years prior, retired March 25th.

For aircheck collectors, his retirement round-up is at this link:

Nick's normal fill-in, Steve Kathan, has been anchoring the round-up for the last month. Looked for an official press release that he has been named the new anchor, and haven't found one. Note it took 3 months from Glenn's retirement for Young to be named to the chair - Young, Kathan, and Dan Raviv rotated slots before the announcement was made.

I'm going to miss Nick Young. He had a great, smooth delivery, and rarely slipped up. Another great voice retires from radio...

I remember listening to him when he did the all night gig at WLW. I remember he left Cincy for Boston's WEEI.

Nick Young (Yeazel) was a very solid anchor at WEEI. Great pipes and a good sense of humor. He had a little game that he played with the editors. They would hand him a rundown sheet with all the stories and features slotted for a given anchor hour. When he was done with the hour, he'd return the used script with the rundown sheet at the top. And written atop the rundown sheet would be a short excerpt of the lyrics from some Top 40 song. He generally managed to stump them, since he was a few years older. Understand, he was searching his memory for lyrics while anchoring.
