Nicky G Joins WOGL

From the Tuesday 8/21/2012 RadioInfo web news page - no specific airshift is mentioned:

Nicky G Realizes Lifelong Dream – Lands Gig at WOGL, Philadelphia.

CBS O&O oldies-formatted WOGL has hired Nicky G to join its air staff. He grew up in Philly as a kid listening to WFIL but most of Nicky G’s radio career has been as a PD and air personality “down da shore” in Atlantic City. Nicky worked at Atlantic City’s Boss 97.1 (WBSS) from 1981-1995 as afternoon drive host and PD, then as afternoon drive host in AC at Shark 103.7 from 1995-2008 and director of programming for Access 1 Communications. Since 2008, Nick has been holding down afternoon drive at WAYV, Atlantic City. Nick ecstatically tells RadioInfo, “For 25 years, it’s been a professional dream of mine to work at 98.1 WOGL and on the air in Philly. To be able to have your dream come true while doing something you’re passionate about feels amazing and unreal, at the same time. I’m very gracious and thankful for the opportunity.” WOGL program director Anne Gress adds, “After sifting through literally hundreds of applicants, Nicky G’s experience, credentials and personality made him rise to the top. After I met him, there was no doubt that he’d be the perfect addition to the legendary stable of talent I’m blessed with here at 98.1 WOGL. His love of the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s combined with his genuine enthusiasm made for an unbeatable combination.”

Glad he sounds good. It's too bad he sounds good on the most boring station in Philadelphia history.

I have to disagree. I'm one of those who thought for a long time the station sounded stale and predictable, and lately it has sounded a lot more lively and the music is much fresher. They are down to just a few dozen of the most timeless 60s tunes on the playlist and have added more 80s -- including tunes I never would have guessed back then would sound good as "oldies" but actually do. They need to make Angela Mason full time middays. She kicked ass in that daypart filling in for Harvey last week.
