Nicom exciters - opinions?

Does anyone have opinions on Nicom exciters - specifically the NPT20?

Nicom stuff is pretty good, right there with Bext (alot of it is virtually the same, or at least used to be). Bext has much better tech support, but I do know of one Nicom user who had his exciter serviced by Bext since they sold virtually the same model.

I have an NPT20 as a backup. I've been unable to find any kind of documentation for it, and the previous guy here either threw out the manual or never had it.

I have a 1985 vintage BE FX-30 on one of my stations that has some overshoot problems. I recently re-capped it and it didn't seem to help. I've thought about pulling it to backup service and putting the Nicom on the air full-time, but was a bit concerned about low frequencies causing AFC problems and audio quality with it in general. The station I'd be using it on isn't hip-hop or anything, but the processing is fairly bass heavy - an 8100XT2 with a clipper afterward.

I haven't looked inside it yet and haven't been able to find any reading material so I thought I'd ask for opinions here.
