Nielsen ATL ratings June 2014

Atlanta (#9) June 2014 Ratings.

If so called NewsRadio 1067 cannot do any better than this, then it is time to throw in the towel.
Looks like Michael Graham has done NOTHING to boost ratings......I would have believed that Graham
could have been competition for Herman Cain, but these latest ratings show a slide from the April and
May numbers. Anyone have any suggestions for 1067? Even WABE public radio has twice the ratings
of 1067. WSB is still the King of Atlanta Radio...no matter what the competition comes up with.

I'd like to hear why people think The Bull is crushing Kicks. The Bull is voice tracked from 3PM on yet is more dominant than ever.

Interestingly, B98.5, The Fish, Q100, Power 96-1 and Star 94, all of which target similar female demos, all increased.

Rock 100.5 - LOL

This coming from a huge alternative fan; Why in the hell COX did alternative on 107.1 with 105.7/96.7 doing so poorly is beyond me.

Keep in mind that the 12+ numbers that are released publicly are virtually meaningless as far as advertisers are concerned. Radio 105.7 is doing quite well in some key demos.

For example:
Ranked #5 Persons 18-34 Cume - $75k+
Ranked #6 Persons 18-34 Cume - College
Ranked #1 (tied with Q100) Persons 18-34 AQH - $75k+
Ranked #1 (tied with V103) Persons 18-34 AQH - College

They are in the top five of many other demos and are at least in the top 10 for all but a few demos (older).

Keep in mind that the 12+ numbers are only one of many metrics and not nearly as important as others. Radio 105.7 is doing very well in some of the key demos (with one of the worst Atlanta signals no less and zero advertising). I think that Cox wants to round out their demo by pulling in some of the younger listeners.

The following numbers for Radio 105.7 are based on Mar-May of this year.

Persons 18-34
#5 - Cume - $75k+
#6 - Cume - College
#1 (tied) - AQH - $75k+
#1 (tied) - AQH - College

Persons 18-49
#8 - Cume - $75k+
#7 - Cume - College
#5 (tied) - AQH - $75k+
#4 (tied) - AQH - College

They are at least in the top 10 in almost every other demo. Women 35-64 is their weakest.

Let me ask you this because you seem to know your stuff. How does 105.7 18-34 numbers compare to 18-34 numbers of 99x before it went out of commission in 2008 and Project 96.1 in 2012?

Cumulus likes to lose. That's what they do. That's who they are. This is what happens when you have a bunch of men in their 50's and 60's making music & content decisions from up high.

Clear Channel understands its audience much better than Cumulus does. Clear Channel's in-house research is superior and can do a better job of relating to young to middle-aged suburban women with its content.

Cumulus, on the other hand, (in the year 2014) thinks the audience still rushes out to buy Country Weekly when it hits the newsstands. LOL

Probably true. The other day I tried to find a large market where Cumulus has it's act together.....and I couldn't find one. Maybe at mid-level tier, in a city where they are the dominant player???

Closest market they do good in 6+ is Chattanooga:

...and they still get pwnt by CC and Wussy (US) 101 which is the V-103 (at least until about 6 months ago) of Chattanooga.

99.5 The Wolf and 96.3 KSCS are co-owned by Cumulus and both are doing surprisingly well! We'll see how long that lasts once they switch one of them to NASH though.
