Nielsen ballgame changes Monday...

Starting next week Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo will be included in the Nielsen ratings index with the majors and the contest for advertising dollars. I'm thinking people will be shocked when they see their numbers and demos in many markets, including Phoenix. Yep, a whole new ballgame. Might get interesting.

Isn't this referring to the national Nielsen Peoplemeter sample? Local Univision and Telemundo affiliates are already included in the local general-market quarterly sweeps reports. Even among the general market, KTVW dominates in key demos and dayparts. This is what KTVW is referring to when it boasts about being "#1...in any language!" on billboards around town.

The SL nets have never been measured in the national sample directly with the majors. Their numbers have been segregated up to now, which hurts them with many advertisers. See LA Times article:
