Nielsen to include ratings from Youtube and Hulu

I hope they do a better job incorporating the data than Billboard does. Their music charts have sucked since the addition of youtube views.

The Billboard data counts individual plays and there is a formula for the weighting of data from different sources.

Nielsen is not trying to count the number of plays of a song; it is attempting to include the time spent with YouTube and Hulu along with similar data from cable and OTA channels.

That's exactly the point, Billboard should use time spent listening and not just how many clicks it got.

That is not what a chart is intended to do. For on-demand, registering the number of individual plays for each song is key, not how much time they spend with the medium.
