Nielsen Top 15 November 1981

Ran across this in the Nov. 10, 1981 issue of TV Guide; the
latest Nielsen top 15:

1. World Series, Game 6 (Dodgers beat the Yankees, 4 games
to 2) (ABC)
2. 60 Minutes (CBS)
3. "Every Which Way But Loose" (CBS)
4. M*A*S*H (CBS)
5. Dallas (CBS)
6. Three's Company (ABC)
7. World Series, Pregame 6 (ABC)
8. Too Close For Comfort (ABC)
9. Monday Night Football (ABC)
10. Laverne & Shirley (ABC)
Hart To Hart (ABC)
Little House On The Prairie (NBC)
13. The Love Boat (ABC)
14. "Blazing Saddles" (CBS)
15. The Dukes Of Hazzard (CBS)

There's one similarity to current TV ratings...No NBC near the top (although it would have been different had it been their turn to do the World Series that year). This was just after the disastrous Fred Silverman era ended there, and Grant Tinker had just started his rebuilding project.

No, in fact ABC had won two weeks in a row, largely because
of the World Series; CBS had kept it close and went on to win
the season. I'd pinpoint the beginning of NBC's turnaround in the
Tinker-Tartikoff era with "The A-Team"; when it beat "Happy Days"
and "Laverne & Shirley" it seemed the beginning of good things to
come--which they did, in 1984, with "The Cosby Show".
