Nighthawks Politically Correct Version

I recently saw a 1981 movie that starred Sly Stallone and Billy Dee Williams named Nighthawks....I had seen it several years ago and actually viewed it three times. This time I noticed a change. First of all Nigel Davenport's lines about how "when they start setting off bombs in America" had completely been deleted. In addition, in the scene where Stallone and Williams are looking for Rutger Hauer's character in the nightclub, the song being played which was Brown Sugar by the Stones has been replaced with some other tune. Has anyone noticed these changes, and have there been others that you know about. It begs the question WHY.

I appreciate anyone's thoughts on this.

Most likely, the Stones song was replaced because of music rights. Music has been substituted when a movie is run on TV or released on video/DVD because additional money has to be paid for the use of songs outside of the film's theatrical run. I don't know about the change in dialogue.

Incidentally, WJAD had the "Nighthawks" soundtrack album; the cover had the film's logo cut out like a stencil, so the inner sleeve with pics of Stallone and his co-stars would show through. I thought that was pretty cool.
