Nighttime AM signals in Las Vegas

I'll be in Sin City in a couple of days. I am interested in knowing what AM signals from other cities can be heard at night. I can pretty guess that the powerful Los Angeles and San Francisco signals come in pretty well. What about San Diego, Phoenix and other western cities. What about cities to the east, like Dallas, New Orleans or Chicago?

Nothing from AZ is directional towards NV, so don't hope for much. SF will get you KNBR, but KCBS and KGO null to the east. San Diego has nothing with much of a signal to the east... even in Palm Springs they are a tough tough catch.

1160 and 890 from UT, 1100 and 850 from CO, 770 from NM, and many many Mexican stations await you. The LV AM dial is very crowded, locally, too.

As far as the SD stations that can be heard in LV, depending on the strength of your radio receiver, KOGO 600, KFMB 760, & 1090 can be picked up. KFBK 1530 from Sacramento, KNBR 680, KCBS 740, & KGO 810 from SF can also be heard in LV @nite. KKOB 770 from Alberquerque, KKOH 780 from Reno, & KSL 1160 from Salt Lake City can also be here at nite in Vegas. And of course, many LA stations(KFI 640, KFWB 980, KNX 1070) can be heard at nite.

I don't think that you could pick them up today, but back in the 1980s I was amazed when I DXed WLS/Chicago, WCCO/Minneapolis, and WHAS/Louisville from Las Vegas at night. WLS became impossible when a Utah station signed on at 890 in the mid-80s.

One station you can still pick up sometimes in Vegas at night is AM 1000 KOMO/Seattle.

I did make the trip to Vegas for the very first time two weeks ago. I stayed at the Marriott Grand Chateau on E. Harmon and AM reception there was horrible. Almost non-existent. The first night I roomed with my parents at the Orleans since I got in so late past check-in at the Marriott and there, reception wasn't much better, though I did manage to get KNX.

Is it because of the lights on the Strip the reason why AM radio was very hard to get?
