Nighttime partial AM bandscan - Video

I've done some videos of individual stations already but not a bandscan where I ID the stations on the screen in the video.

Since most of the good regular catches are below 800 kHz, that's where it ended but it gives you a a good indication of what it's like to listen to AM on any given night here.

I only gave an ID to the regulars from California and the west that are always audible at night and it was my first try at using captions on Windows Movie Maker.

Pretty cool. Thanks for that video.

My only Hawaii DX experiences were on Oahu and there was simply nothing audible on AM beyond the locals! And various locals seemed to be on multiple frequencies. But then an apartment complex on the Ala Wai canal was probably not a prime DX location.

Thanks, guys.

Never imagined the time would come when I'd be living some place where California AM stations are nighttime regulars.

Oh yeah.

WBBM has shown up a few times mostly in the background giving KKOH a good battle.

Once in a while, WLW comes in.

Heard WABC only once mixed with a couple other stations on the same frequency and I had to use their internet stream to confirm it was them.

This doesn't sound like anything unless you know what I was listening for, the voice of Noam Laden whose show was on at the time.

Still haven't heard WCBS or WFAN.

Good work Gar. I heard WBBM & WLS when I was in Hawaii in November 1978--right around now as a matter of fact. They were both alone on their frequencies then.
Seven years ago when I went back there was so much clutter I couldn't hear either one. The farthest east I was able to get was Tulsa, Ok on 1170.
