my response to Harry Davis----
Let's revert back to the title of this thread and the meaning behind it--to congratulate Nik for getting the 'BOS gig....your statment:
"What's the big deal? A lot of people do imaging for stations. Wasn't that individual banned from this board?
I see no reason to applaud someone for doing voice overs. Let him get a gig as drivetime and applaud him."
Doing Voiceovers and doing imaging for a station are two separate entities,,perhaps if you had experience you would know the difference...it's quite easy to do a VO for a station..it is RARE that someone gets the chance to do imaging for a station...I would enjoy a conversation with you about your contributions to the broadcasting field, specifically VO work you have done, as well as imaging you have done....I think we can all agree that any DJ can do a Voiceover,,,,but not as well as someone who has been TRAINED in voiceovers ...most of the spots I have heard with a DJ doing them sound "yucker-ish" unless they have taken classes in voiceovers...(credit to VO trainers such as Jordan Rich, Will Lebow,,etc)...the same could be said for doing imaging...it is an entirely different playing field than doing voiceovers....Classic example---JJ Wright worked his BUTT off to get where he is today..I should know, he sat next to me in a VO class...Stop trying to lump DJ/VO/Imaging in the same category...it won't work
