I can't imagine that he will be retained for the new format. As far as a return to Boston...your guess is as good as mine...

I found this little tidbit on allaccess.com

"On the heels of CBS Rocker WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK)/NEW YORK shifting to Top 40 (NET NEWS 3/11), former afternooner NIK CARTER and middayer MATT SCHWENKER TODAY (3/12) appeared on crosstown EMMIS AAA WRXP (101.9 RXP) to take calls, say goodbye to fans and officially decree that Rock is Alive in NEW YORK CITY as they "pass the torch" to 101.9 RXP.

The conversation with MATT PINFIELD IN THE MORNING turned into an invite for CARTER to guest-host the open afternoon-drive shift vacated by BRYAN SHOCK in JANUARY."

Nik's not a bad guy, let's hope the afternoon slot is offered to him.

I interned for Nik @ WBCN and he was a terrific guy (at least to me) he helped me get my foot in the door in radio and i am forever grateful. I hope he lands on his feet no matter what.

Good news for Nik . . .

Nik Carter Joins 101.9 RXP For Afternoons

EMMIS AAA WRXP/NEW YORK grabs former CBS Rock WXRK (K-ROCK)/NEW YORK afternooner NIK CARTER to handle afternoons 3-7p, starting MARCH 30th. The confirmation comes days after he appeared in the RXP shift as a "guest host" on the day following K-ROCK's format flip to Top 40.

Given the current state of the industry, that's a short stay on the beach!! Congrats & good luck, Nik (if you're lurking...and you know you are!).
