Unfortunately there website is under construction.

But we still expect you to donate generously to the efforts in New Orleans and Mississippi. We'll let you know what the broadcast was like. My guess is it's JTM.

Dance music?

Once I heard Dance music on 92.5, I was waiting for a Energy Liner to play.

Oh i know! Memories....

Totally made my night!

Much thanks!

That was interesting and fun...

I did have challenges to face during the shift, and the control freak in me reared its ugly head. The first part of the show was run with a board operator who cued me when my microphone was live. I tried it for a while, but I'm a top 40/dance/CHR jock who likes to run his own board and control his show. Half an hour later, it was obvious I couldn't handle it. I still feel really bad because it feels like I had kicked her out of her chair. I sincerely think that she is a really cool and sweet person, yet here I was-- the rude outsider making demands in someone else's house. Ugh. What's worse, I forgot to acknowledge her at the end of the broadcast! Sorry, JENN... I really appreciated all your help and I cannot emphasize how great I think you are.

And Matt Dubiel is one of the most down-to-earth, friendly people in the business who I like a lot. He sat in the studios and offered us to keep broadcasting an additional hour beyond our scheduled shift. It was hard to refuse. What a cool guy! He actually requested hearing Divine "Native Love" to be played at the end of the broadcast.

I would like to personally thank the friends and family of Doug Fleming for sponsoring the hours on behalf of Radio-Info.com and asking me to come in last minute to host and program music on the fly. Doug was a big fan of dance and CHR, and I'm sure that he would have been pleased that this was done for him.

In retrospect, I wish I had more time to prepare. But it was an awesome opportunity to have fun for a few hours while helping in the fundraising effort for Hurricane Katrina victims. Thanks to NINE-FM, Radio-Info.com, and all those involved in the broadcast, and thanks to those who have donated and offered their support. For one night, Chicago got to hear a few hours of nonstop dance music, and the broadcast raised awareness of the need for donations and help. It was a good night. Thanks.

It was awesome, seeing NINE FM plays anything to begin with and has a few special shows on especially on sunday evenings why not put on a friday or saturday night retro/dance show on say like from 8pm to 2am for example. I think it could do really well for them. Anyone else care to andd anything.

I wish I'd been able to hear it. I'm sure it was a lot of fun.

"Fat Boy"... that's a good ol' Chicago dance classic. This is exactly why when the time comes for dance to return to the airwaves, that you need serious involvement or direction from someone who knows the music, the audience, and the heritage of dance in Chicago.

Good job, Joe. :)

Some unanswered questions now that the event has passed......

First and foremost, prayers to the Hurricane victims, survivors and people there saving and evacuating everyone out of harms way.

Second, the 3 hours tonight on NINE-FM were sponsored by donations to The Red Cross, from Rick & Diana Fleming on behalf of Radio-Info.com & the memory of Doug Fleming, JamTraxx Media, and myself.

I would like to personally thank NewsWeb, Matt Dubiel, Harvey Wells, Jen, Lyn Taylor, and everyone else present that greeted us in their building, and treated us with utmost respect and hospitality, even though the participants of this site have been most harsh on them many times. They showed us around, we talked, ate, and they allowed us access on air to do as we pleased. This whole effort they have been orchestrating speaks volumes that they do care, and all the "others" in the market should take note, how NINE has moved to get the people to donate for this unprecented event that has occured on our soil.

I would like to thank JamTraxx Media for hosting the show and working closely with me on music title selections. They stepped in on *very* short notice, as I did not want to take the roll of being on air.

I would like to thank "Big Ed" for offering to volunteer for a few hours and providing moral and comical support before and during our on air time. =)

MAINSTREAM DANCE was selected, SOLEY to honor the memory of Doug as he loved the music and uncommon radio format. Also to appease the many participants here, that do miss the format on 92.5/7.

Finally, it is nice to hear the many people on NINE so far this weekend. Karen Hand, Katherine Johns, Dr Kelly, Bill Leff, Kevin Matthews, John "Records" Landecker and the others lined up the rest of this weekend.

Reality dictates, not all can donate, but if you have even a dollar to spare, I strongly encourage you to donate. Reverse the tables, it could be you there right now, and that 1 dollar could be the difference between having a bottle of water or not, for you to drink in the harsh conditions present in the gulf.

May peace be with all of us in these challenging times. We will prevail.

Thank you.
______________

Does anyone have an MP3 of this? I missed it and would like to hear

No, I didn't record myself. NINE has offered to mail an aircheck to me. I had a rough performance, so naturally, I'm hesitant to offer it. Heheh. We'll see.

One thing to note, though, was the uniqueness of that studio. It feels like you're an IT Manager or an air traffic controller with all those separate screens in front of you: one screen for Internet access, one flat screen for the music, four other flat screens to display and run region-specific spots for EACH of the radio stations (including WKIF). Then you also have monitoring equipment for each signal, a wireless mouse, the board, 3 CD decks, and 2 main microphones. It was interesting to see a mix of new and old equipment and see how they manage to work with each other. You could also see equipment and items that were left around since the Z-Spanish days.

Outside in the lot, they have a screen-wrapped promotions van with the NINE logos and a license plate that says "NINE 9". Throughout the property, you would spot a leftover 99.9/103.9 Super Estrella sticker slapped on a random spot such as a parking sign, a dry-erase board, and on certain equipment. The sign in the kitchen was in English and Spanish, suggesting that the sign was there long before NewsWeb acquired the property from Entravision. Wish I had brought my camera so I could post them up.

WYTZZ95FM was there, snapping random candid pics (probably with some horrible shots of me in it-- ugh). I'm curious to see them-- minus the ones with me in it. LOL

I've been recording EVERYTHING since Saturday morning from the 92.5 signal.

Blackmail can be valuable to some, and feared by others. (Toward JD, smile).

=)

I wish I snapped more pics! I will have to look at them in a lil bit. Have not had a chance!
______________

Hope there's a chance you might be able to post on the internet, whatever site it might be. I would like to see pictures of the Nine FM studios and the people who work there, and those who were guest airstaff.
