Oh man, Im hearing them online. They are playing some good dance music. The 9pm hour mix was boring. But the 10pm one is good. They are playing newer music.

I got back home late last night, but I was able to check out a better part of the 11pm hour... mostly retro and 80's tracks in the mix at the time. It sounds nice to hear something other than 50 Cent and Ying Yang Twins in a mixshow again. Hopefully I can make it a point to listen again next time and get a better sampling of what gets played during the evening.

It was a nice experiment on Nine FM. I would like it to be a regular show, though I personally think the hard rock should be excluded from the program, but I don't see that happening because it's supposed to be "We Play Anything", but certain songs don't fit in a dance remix show. Example of Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name. I can't think of others off the top of my head as I work too much.

Things can change in a flash. We're talking about Harvey Wells a man who's changing the face of radio, just not to what large amounts of people gravitate towards. He may be too afraid to do something like a dance format for a few hours on a saturday night. Don't blink.

I enjoyed it very much, gave me coldchills to hear "sounds of sanfrancisco" being played on 92.7. I really hope they make this a regular show!

Sounds like this may answer some of the question, "Why has Musiclover II had so much unrelenting hatred towards Nine on this board ever since it debuted a year and a half ago?"

Hey Sherlock, don't look too much into that one. The man at the helm is the man in control and there've been more misfires, more miscues, more unprofessional debacles that came out of this turkey than any other radio station in history. (And that's not an overexaggeration). They have the coverage, they have NO EXCUSES to be doing so poorly except NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE LIKE IT. Of course whacked out critics who hate everything too many people like and a small amount of people who do like it, the station, with it's signal has the potential to do at least a 2.5 share with a format that will draw MORE PEOPLE. I'm sorry, I don't feel the need to pat people on the back for a job badly done, that's what the critics are for.

If you notice I defend THE VICTIMS of the stupidity and attack those responsible for it. I give credit where credit is due and in this day and age there's not much to give. While not correct on every observation I'm usually dead on and when not, it still winds up a variance of my observation. I stand by my beliefs because of my experiences in the past. I'm amazed at how far downhill and how dumbed down so many in the business are now. It's really sad to see. You're free to reject my posts or accept, they don't come through rose colored glasses. They speak in volume and usually acrue.

As I stated in an post in this thread. Nine sounds better than its incarnation #1 through 28. That's the equivalent of an 847 pound man losing 60 pounds. [granted it took two years]

Back in my day you wouldn't have had two years to get a POINT SIX! You wouldn't have had some mouthpiece trumpeting how important their radio station was with such lousy results. You would've been gone. (unless the owner was a bad copy of Bill Veeck)

In closing, there's nothing more to see here, please disperse.

They really should just go back to Energy 92, and 99.9. Im sure they would get better ratings wise, it should be a no brainer, put Dance on Chicago radio, they will listen... If you build it, they will come.

<font color=3333ff>That's the bottom line midwestclubber.
But do we really think they'd do it right? They'd have to live up to some major standards from the original.

Bingo. And that's the challenge. If it were not executed just right, it'd be a big failure. And then of course, you'd then have all the naysayers hollering "I told you so."

It needs to be pointed out that it wasn't exclusively the dance music that made Energy successful in Chicago. It was the whole package - personalities, imaging, programming, sales, you name it. Done any lesser way, I don't think it would have been as successful as it was.
