I live 2.5 miles from the NJ 101.5 transmitter, and I noticed spurs around 101.5. 101.1 and 101.9 is completely covered by a spur, and 102.1 has a lot of interference. There's even a trace on 102.3. It's happening on 3 different radios, 1 of them a car radio, and none of those radios got the spurs before. The spur interfered with my reception of Q102.1 10 miles south of the WKXW tower, B101.1 about 8 miles south (both stations got spur interference within their protected contours). CD 101.9 was interfered with till I was 10 miles northeast of the NJ 101.5 tower. Normally, all of the above mentioned stations are listenable right under the tower. The spurs started sometime this afternoon. NJ 101.5 doesn't have HD hash.
A spur is a transmission of a radio station on a different frequency due to problems with the transmitter. It sounds like NJ 101.5 is broadcasting spurs on (estimated) 101.175 and 101.85 (this spur sounds very overmodulated). All it takes is a few watts of power for the spurs to travel far, because the tower is almost 1000 feet.
The spurs are not occurring with 103.3, which is also on the same tower.
