Not really news. Sojo's been playing stuff like Flo Rida's "Low" for years.

Welcome to the "business" of radio. It seems that no one pays attention to the actual listeners anymore, since it's all about pleasing their beloved advertisers. We are now in an era where a station can't be identified for what they truly are. This isn't the 80's where rock was on Z100, or dance was on Hot 103/97, or hip-hop on Kiss & WBLS. We are in an era where CHR can fill your presets and the rest of the formats is flushed.

Certain CHR songs play well with adults, like "Low" by Flo Rida or the two current Black Eyed Peas tracks (Boom Boom Pow & I Gotta Feeling) - WJLK & WSJO are both Hot AC's that teeter on Adult CHR, so it makes sense to play those kinds of songs. Both are doing fine ratings wise, and remember that no format is frozen in time. AC stations cant play 80's Streisand & Neil Diamond records and expect to score well with W25-54.

And advertisers pay the bills with terrestrial radio - and selling them ad time means getting as many listeners in the demos that they want as possible.

See, with the times changing, I would never expect AC stations to focus on just 80's. There are the 90's and now the 2000's since we are coming near 2010, but AC stations are now focusing on today more than the hits back in the day, I would at least expect for AC stations to focus more on 90's and hits from 2000-2004 or 2005 at least.
